The main goal of the project was to broaden interpersonal and professional skills of high-school students and help them to find more job opportunities on local, country and European job market.
The goal of the project was also to:
• educational and information exhibition (result O1) – showcase and website dedicated to the project,
• dictionary of scientific terms (O2 result),
• lesson scenarios (result O3) – a functional scenario of a lesson about writing a business plan and a functional scenario of creating a portfolio),
• student’s portfolio (O4 result),
Getting to know creative educational methods and tools has become a priority, exchange of good practice related to teaching methods between project partners was also a priority.
Training Vision Ltd was interested in the results of the experiences of both schools participating in the project while working with school students.
The participants of the project were teachers, high school students and representatives of the training company. Eight teachers took part in it. They were two math teachers, four English teachers, one teacher of IT vocational subjects and one teacher of entrepreneurship. Ultimately, 32 students of the technical secondary school (16 from Poland and 16 from the Czech Republic) qualified in the recruitment process took part in the project. The project was divided into 4 related modules.
The first module was integration, during which the project participants got to know themselves, their schools and the partner company. They visited the country and the town where the project partners live. Students presented interesting facts related to their homeland in the form of a multimedia presentation. The second module was the training of students and teachers in Portsmouth. The project for young people lasted five days and its scope covered knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, self-presentation and the IT industry. On the other hand, training in entrepreneurship and coaching dedicated to teachers from both schools included:
a methodology for creating business plans for young entrepreneurs, the purpose and methodology of creating a business plan. The teachers also learned about the methods and forms of work in British schools.
During the five-day training, lesson scenarios were created to increase the efficiency and quality of vocational education and to apply the acquired knowledge in the lessons. The implementation of the training increased the competitiveness of both schools on the local educational market.
Module III included educational trips of students as part of short-term exchanges of groups of students. During the youth visit from the Czech Republic, portfolios were developed together at the Polish school. Pupils in their free time, they visited monuments and museums in Poland and learned about our culture. A visit of young people from a Polish facility at a Czech school resulted in the creation of business plans. Czech students organized a tour of the monuments of the Czech Republic and learning about the culture of this country for their Polish colleagues. Module IV included the development of the results of intellectual work.
Thanks to the project, the teachers of both schools raised their professional qualifications related to the teaching of the subject as well as educational work with students with specific educational needs and cooperation with parents. Common educational activities developed communication skills. Students learned the secrets of self-presentation and their dream companies. The result of the project was also getting to know European cultures and promoting the regions visited. Thanks to such activities, an opportunity was created to educate self-confident European citizens who are open, communicative and respect each other.
The project carried out in the above-mentioned form brought two schools from completely different educational models closer to each other and indicated patterns of cooperation for the future, thus encouraging other institutions to similar activities and giving tangible benefits both in the short and long term. There has been an increase in the motivation and activity of teachers, as well as students who have not quit continuing their education after graduating from high school but have actively joined the model of lifelong learning. Project activities contributed to the promotion of schools and the European Union (European programs) in the local environment.
