Project Summary
Our project consists of steps that we can easily overcome the difficulties we encounter in foreign language teaching. The most important detail here is that our students cannot use the foreign languages they learned in their schools in practice in their own lives. We want to develop foreign language speaking skills and competencies and create areas where they can speak foreign languages. We want to raise the level of foreign language literacy of our students. We are 6 partner schools. More than one foreign language is taught in each partner school. In our conversations with our project partners, we discussed the problems arising in foreign language courses, especially the learning steps. We all have such problems. We scanned the academic literature in detail. We took notes. We prepared a road map together. We attach importance to the intercultural approach to solving problems. We planned 6 international movements in our project. 4 students and 2 Foreign Language teachers will participate in each mobility. Short staff meetings were also planned at all events. In addition, the participating students will actively participate in various workshops and activities of each mobility, improving their social-cultural competence and foreign language skills. Learning motivations will increase, knowledge about European culture will increase. Teamwork will be blended with friends from different cultures, and students and teachers from partner schools will make a presentation. Participating teachers will also receive training from authorized academics. They will learn innovative teaching models. They will equip themselves with the 21st century teaching skills. They will learn the cultures and histories of the countries they visit.
The main objectives we want to achieve in our project are listed below:
1. To be able to design the learning environment in foreign language teaching according to the needs of the age.
2. To adopt more innovative and innovative learning models by giving up traditional teaching methods in language courses.
3. To develop the skills and competencies of our foreign language teachers to adapt technology to foreign language teaching.
4. To improve our students’ foreign language proficiency and speaking skills, to enable them to communicate interculturally.
5. To organize foreign language teaching according to the 21st century, to apply a wide variety of creative learning models in foreign language lessons.
(Games, flash cards, mobile applications, story-based language teaching, text-translation method, creative workshops, mirror and recording method and similar teaching methods …)
6. Creating a student-centered learning environment in the classroom.
7. To create areas that our students know foreign languages.
8. To improve the foreign language literacy of our students.
9. Theoretical information is given in foreign language courses. We will embody the theoretical knowledge. In doing so, we will use various expression / teaching models. (Examples, question-answer, three-dimensional story creation, illustration and similar methods …)
10. Language course teachers will have control of the course, but will only guide students in the course. In this way, the teacher in the classroom can increase the student’s motivation to learn by giving instant feedback to the student.
11. To encourage our students to communicate in different languages with their friends from different cultures using various social media communication tools (Twinspace, gmail, wattsap etc.)
12. Improve the ability to speak and understand English and other foreign languages.
13. To follow the dissemination steps of our project meticulously and to deliver our project to the targeted masses starting from the local.
14. To create foreign language awareness in our schools.
We believe that our project will receive a grant. With 6 transnational mobility and the activities we will carry out in our own schools, we think that we will pass the threshold and improve ourselves in foreign language teaching. We will ensure the continuity of our project with our language course teachers who renew themselves according to the needs of the 21st century. We will endeavor to make all innovative practices that we will implement become the teaching character of the school.
