Project Summary
Context
With the growing usage of digital technology and with the various social media channels, bullying has become even more common and highly widespread online. It has taken on a different type, more complicated and tougher to recognize, since the bullies often hide it under false identity. One of the main issues emphasized in the studies dealing with this phenomenon is the highly serious effects and consequences that bullying has on the victims.
The project is targeted towards both students and their families – on the one side we intend to make Ss very responsible utilizers of the internet and of the social media channels, to decrease the frequency of cyberbullying incidents and on the other side we wish to provide parents with guidelines for monitoring and controlling the online behavior of their children and recognizing indicators of cyberbullying traits in their children’s behavior.
Objectives
-To decrease the frequency of cyberbullying incidents by minimum 50% in 2 years
-To strengthen awareness of minimum 80% of members of the target groups related to the possible forms of bullying by the end of the project
-To boost parents’ capability of monitoring the online activity of their children by creating one book Guide for them as well as by organizing 4 workshops (C2-C4)
-To develop an online web platform to be used for reporting cyberbullying occurrences which will be launched worldwide to be utilized by all schools, once the project is completed (C5)
– To boost students’ intercultural knowledge and their communication skills
– To enhance students’ creativity as well as critical thinking
– To enhance the EU dimension of the participating schools through worldwide participation.
Participants
The target group – 200 students aged 13-14 in each school. Participants involved in exchanges – 80 Ss (20 students altogether from every country) – they will attend normal lessons, get involved in topic-related workshops and meetings, cultural activities
Parents of the TG students – will be actively involved in workshops specially designed for them –during and after mobilities, as every school will carry on locally similar workshops with their TG parents and Ss.
Activities
C1 – Cyber-bullying across European schools (details, statistics, case studies, current situation identified in each partner school)
C2 – Safe ways of spending time online.– Guidelines to ensure safety while using the mobile and Internet use
C3 – Identifying forms and incidents of cyberbullying.– Identification of various cyberbullying ways and incidents
C4 – Consequences of cyberbullying on both the bully and the victim. – Ethical, moral and legal norms for ensuring safety while doing online activities; the psychological consequences of cyberbullying
C5 –What should I do if somebody bullies me? – Reporting cases of cyberbullying and cases of online abuse
Results
As a consequence of our collaboration, we will generate the following results, which will be integrated in our schools and distributed free on various dissemination forums like eTwinning platform, EPRP, our project`s website, Facebook pages:
a. Initial and final report of cyberbullying incidents in our schools (SE)
b. Practical guide for being safety online (for students) (RO)
c. Brochure named Causes and consequences of cyberbullying (IT)
d. Practical guide for parental control upon children’s online activity (TR)
e. Public online platform for reporting cases of bullying (addressed to students and parents) (ES)
f. Collections of various activities about cyberbullying – to be used with students (All partners)
Impact
The project will contribute to expanding the European dimension had by our schools.
We will enhance the openness as well as the flexibility of the teachers and students.
The school will earn an advantage among local community educational institutions and it will appear more desirable for future students
We will decrease the occurance of cyberbullying, be better qualified to cope with the problem, allow abler pupils to recognize these conditions and how to behave under these circumstances. We will also allow parents to be more involved in the online lives of their children, to monitor and guide them. Therefore we will establish a productive collaboration between school-parents-students.
The partner schools will become a local resources, since we will share the results we obtained and we`ll share good practices with schools in our communities. We will achieve useful project management ability which will enable us to build further Erasmus+ methodological initiatives.
