Project Summary
The indicator early leavers from education and training is defined as the percentage of the population aged 18-24 with at most a lower secondary education and who were not in further (formal or non-formal) education or training during the four weeks preceding the survey.
At European level (2012), Early School Leaving (ESL) affects five and half million young people: 12.7% on EU28
average of all 18 to 24 year olds, had not finished upper secondary education and were not in education and training (Eurostat 2015). It is tackling represents one of the principal axes of interest of the European Strategy 2020 for the all the Countries of EU.
Schools are acting as hotspots of tolerance, urban integration and socially benefit to combat social exclusion and forms of isolation.
EUREKA aims to intervene in this issue by promoting innovative and digital educational methods and the development of new training courses that foster the attractivenesses of the school environment and its key-role for a much more smart and inclusive society. The project also cross-cuts and joins others EU 2020 strategies, such as climate change effect (in terms of awareness of the effects on the climate and quality of life of population) and unemployment (by building up new curricula and better post-scholastic orienteering).
EUREKA wishes to purse the following SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
– to reduce early school leavers by develop new form of education in the school context (digital competences, intercultural exchanges, etc.);
– to reduce unemployment rate of active population aged 15-24 (eg. NEET)(e.g. building up new curricula, critical thinkers, etc.);
– to promote better orienteering patways for a conscious academic choosing;
– to promote a better knowledge of pupils on environmental sustainability, ecological footprint, and effect of climate change (eg. pollution and greenhouse gas emissions).
