Project Summary
Our project: “Education – window to the world” responded to the needs of the young society, because the modern model of educational career assumed constant improvement of competences and acquisition of new qualifications Learning in various forms and places became the key to success for individual people and the whole society.
The priority objective of the project: “Education – window to the world” was to promote education in mathematics and natural sciences (in accordance with the Lisbon Strategy priorities) as a way to success of young people through the development of teaching materials, the use of new teaching methodology, the use of ICT and the exchange of experience of international teaching staff. The new skills acquired by teachers improved the quality of youth education and their functioning on international labor markets.
As part of the project, 2 trainings for teachers from Poland and Turkey were organized (first training in Spain, second training in Germany) and 1 training for students from Poland and Turkey organized in Bulgaria.
The subject of the 1st training in Spain was: “Developing students’ general and social skills as a way to further learning and future employment”.
The subject of the training was the development of general and social competences necessary for functioning in the contemporary world. The use of modern methods and coaching tools in the training contributed to the broadening of knowledge in the field of acquiring general and social competences by students, planning various alternative ways of vocational education in relation to junior high and high school students. In addition, teachers participated in the seminar at Park Science: 1. Interactive games for children and adolescents, 2. Experimental science as one of the ways to motivate children and youth to learn mathematics and natural sciences.
The subject of the second training in Germany was: “Innovative technologies in education” with the use of White Board. The subject of the training were alternative and innovative teaching methods applied to mathematics and natural sciences aimed at developing logical thinking, inference and analysis and acquisition of social competences. The training was organized based on the method: exposing, practical and programming.
Teachers learned the principles and methods of using ICT as a tool for didactic formulas, processing the Learning Object Format- an application for creating digital stories. They learned the application of “Wikimindmap” – an open source tool used to create mental maps, including new ideas for solving a given problem.
During international activities, teachers participated in the observations of lessons in mathematics and natural science subjects, exchanged experiences, made a lot of pictures of architecture, landscape architecture, which they used to develop scenarios of interesting lessons, multimedia presentations, etc.).
The subject of the training in Bulgaria was: “Information techniques and tools – new opportunities in the education process”.
The training was organized on the basis of exposing and problem-based methods. Students used educational techniques such as: classic problem method, didactic discussion, problem lecture, didactic games. In addition, they used WebQuest during the exercises. WebQuest teaches effective use of the Internet as a source of information and is designed to motivate young people to use information creatively, not just search, and to support thinking at higher taxonomic levels (analysis, synthesis or evaluation).
During the exercises, students developed the ability to analyze, encode, abstract and classify. The students participated in classes prepared by the beneficiary of Poland regarding the development of social competences. Workshops were conducted in two panels:
I block: self-presentation workshops
1. Let’s get to know each other,2. Shaping your own image, 3. Creating a presentation, 4. The art of speaking and presenting
II block: career planning workshops
1. ABC career planning, 2. Learning paths, 3. Individual career plan, 4. Developing a personal portfolio
As part of this project, we established the International Center of Competence (MCK) at School Complex No. 7. The rules of its functioning were defined, the MCK website was presented. All materials developed within the project have been included on this page.We shared knowledge, organized open lessons, training for teachers and future teachers. At the seminar entitled “Modern technologies used in education” presented the activities implemented under the project,, examples of good practices and we presented didactic materials.
The implemented project has contributed to raising the effects of education in mathematics and natural sciences. Interest in mathematics and natural sciences increased. The project “Education – Window to the World” was the most interesting project in which we participated.
