As mentioned in the COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION of 22 May 2018 on key competences for lifelong learning:” Competence requirements have changed nowadays, more and more jobs are automated, technology is playing a greater role in all areas of work and life, and entrepreneurial, social and civic competences are becoming more suitable for resilience and adaptability to change. Only 44% of the European Union population has low or no digital skills (19%). This includes information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, media literacy, digital content creation (including programming), security (including digital well-being and computing, cybersecurity), intellectual property issues, problem-solving and critical thinking is also a part of life. Learners, educators and learning providers could be encouraged to use digital technologies to enhance learning and support the development of digital competences. For example, through participation in Union initiatives such as EU Code Week.”
Besides using computers, the new generation will have to learn coding computers to be ready for this new age if they want to be employed. In future careers, computer programming will be the qualifications that many companies look for during job applications in AI era. As educational institutions schools have a mission to motivate and educate youngsters to prepare them for their future career.
With this purpose schools, each of which has coding experience will collaborate to start and spread coding practices. Turkey has expertise in coding program Scratch 3. The Lithuanian English teacher animates stories using codes. Italian IT teachers teach students to use codes with school subjects to support learning at school. Bulgarian music and IT teachers use makey-makey to create music. Macedonia has joined the code week and designed games.
