Project Summary

In the framework of this project, which was designed for a time-span of three years, teachers and students from Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary and Turkey investigated together in
the topic of minorities in Europe. They focused on regional minorities, as the Armenian minority in Bulgaria, the Sorbs in Saxony, the Hungary-Germans in Hungary and the
religious minority in Turkey. The following aspects were of special interest: History, Culture, Changes in lifestyle, Educational and professional opportunities. Important aims of
this project were: the development of responsibility for a common Europe and the encounter with different, strange cultures. In addition, prejudices could be diminished and
acceptance of cultural specifics were encouraged. The teenagers were successfully trained to cope within conflicts. The participants also analysed educational opportunities and job prospects as well as benefits within the social systems of their home-countries. As a consequence, they informed each other about their findings. All in all 60 students (aged 13 –
17) from different types of schools in four countries have established an ERASMUS+ team at each school, in which they worked on a regional basis. The students collected information
about the cultural features of the specific minorities; they carried out interviews with members of each minority and with representatives of politics, culture and church. The teams
organized four project-meetings. During the meetings, teachers and students presented their findings according to: the history of the minorities, their customs (dance, music, theatre,
Art), their role models within the families (women, men, children, young and old generation), their job-mobility and integration into society. The final product, rising from the
trans-national work within the ERASMUS+ project, was a multilingual brochure, that reflects the most important events, activities and findings within the project-work. This
brochure has been published and delivered to all participants and is available in digital form to all, who are interested in the topics. In thus, the idea of one common Europe
is carried on.
