Project Summary
According to the EU Strategy for Youth – Investing and Empowering “Showing solidarity to society through volunteering is important for young people and is a vehicle for personal development, learning mobility, competitiveness, social cohesion and citizenship. Youth volunteering also contributes strongly to intergenerational solidarity.”Moreover, one of the objectives of the same document is to: “mobilise youth in global policy-making at all levels (local, national and international) using existing youth networks and tools (e.g. structured dialogue) and address climate change and the UN Millennium Development Goals Actions by Member States and Commission within their respective spheres of competence.”The project of EuroAsia Volunteering Assistance program after its first edition, in which we could map the hosting organisations wants to promote youth empowerment through volunteering opportunities and social entrepreneurship examples with regions outside of Europe even further – in order to inspire the young people how they can become job creator and not job seekers and at the same time to support the development of youth work on other continents.Volunteering is one of the most rewarding experiences young people can get. From the learning of the first project we are implementing we have faced different challenges with the volunteers on their way. However, working in the developing country can be very challenging for the young people, also for the hosting organisation, the self-development, problem-solving and critical thinking are the crucial skills to be improved for all the participants. The EuroAsia Volunteering Assistance vol. 2 (EVAP 2) is mostly focused on the training part of the organisations and building up on the knowledge and experience already achieved, inviting to take part in it for more local partners and therefore contributing to the stronger ecosystems and the support mechanism for volunteers and organisations.
