Project Summary
The main objective of the project “EUROPE ‘R’ US, EVERYBODY IN!” is the exchange of good practices between three secondary schools: the IES Núm.1 in Xàbia (Spain) the Liceo Clássico “E. Piga” in Villacidro (Italy) and the Agrupamento de Escolas Marquês de Marialva in Cantanhede (Portugal).
The horizontal priority behind this working plan is to instill in our students “the social and educational value of the European cultural heritage”, favouring innovative practices in a digital age marked by the development of new technologies and by the prevailing need to master their use. The project will revolve around three main themes that will be present in all the actions carried out:
– Gender equality and equal opportunities.
– Inclusion and equity.
– Digital competence.
Adolescence is the most important stage in the development of the personality of our students and that is why we must take care of the environment, to build a positive future, full of opportunities and free of prejudices and inherited roles. Gender equality in all spaces is one of the pending subjects of our society and also of the three centres participating in this project. Different regulations are currently being developed, both at state level and European level, to tear down certain walls created over time and we want to contribute with this project to eradicate the situations of inequality that are repeated in the three countries.
In this stage of growth, it is essential for our young people to have role models they can look up to and to be able to see themselves reflected regardless of their gender, social class, race or religion. Each of us must find their position in this ¨Europe for all¨, feel represented and be welcomed by the group.
The main OBJECTIVE is to give greater visibility to the role that women have developed in different fields throughout history. Our working plan is made up of different activities, all interconnected with each other and each country will provide its particular vision and knowledge. Carrying out European projects implies the educational value and the cultural dimension that involves the participation of students and teachers from a multicultural context. All social content worked on in the project with the students will have an impact on their academic and personal training and will be integrated as far as possible in the curriculum of the different schools and will be worked as a cross- curricular subject.
In addition, we want the RESULTS to be TANGIBLE and permanent over time, leaving their mark on our students but also on our respective centres. At an educational level, we intend to create digital products, in the line of our participating students´ interests and that can become permanent with an impact on the environment. When it comes to innovative practices in this digital age, we want to work with different digital tools (genially, dotstorming, padlet, madmagz, …). Training activities will also be carried out to involve all the students and teachers, creating didactic units to be used later inside the classroom.
Likewise, among the INTANGIBLE RESULTS we will mention: the improvement of the communicative competence in English language, the personal growth and increase of autonomy through coexistence with peers from other countries, the opening of our minds and inclusion inside our parameters of other customs and traditions different to ours, the knowledge of other educational systems, …
Finally, we would like to highlight the STRATEGIC RESULTS that we intend to obtain with the development of this project: innovation in our educational systems, implementation in our high schools of what we have learned, improvement of the physical spaces in each centre promoting inclusion and gender equality , development of quality plans that cover the proposals for change included in the project, …
“EUROPE ‘R’ US, EVERYBODY IN!” is a project aimed at 14 and 15-year-old students chosen through transparent selection criteria that guarantee equal opportunities for all throughout the process. The project will have its namesake on the eTwinning virtual platform for monitoring all activities carried out. A project cannot be reduced to physical mobilities and we are convinced that the best way to combine physical and virtual mobility is the eTwinning platform.
It is evident that the MAIN IMPACT of our project will fall in the first place on the participants but also directly on all the students and the educational community. With regard to BENEFITS, it is worth mentioning the increased possibilities of employability; the development of personal skills; the awareness of gender inequalities; the improving of foreign languages proficiency, the tolerance and European citizenship; the promotio of inclusion and, of course, the ability to face any eventuality when abroad and development of their autonomy.
