Project Summary
“Feeling blue? Go Green!” is is a strategic partnership project involving 6 schools from 6 countries:Romania,France,Italy,Greece,Portugal and Spain. We have deliberately chosen our partners from as diverse environments as possible,to include as many ecological aspects of climate
and habitat protection as possible. The present application is a proof of our common needs and goals, those of documenting, promoting and upholding our environments while learning about and implementing new methods of ecological and environmentally-friendly behaviors. As educational
institutions,we are aware of our social and environmental responsibility. Therefore we constantly strive to create and strengthen a sense of civic engagement and responsible citizenship in our students and teachers. Our objectives
1.Develop and expand our participating Ss’ pro-active and environmentally-friendly attitude
2.Increase the amount of theoretical and practical knowledge and methods of safeguard protected areas of natural heritage within the participants
3.Boost,within 2 years’ period of time and afterwards,a sense of civic engagement and responsible citizenship within the team of participants, while developing a sense of national identity and belonging to the European community
4.Upgrade ICT and English language skills and competences among the participants
Final products:eTwinning project,6 newsletters,mini greenhouse/bio garden with own compost heap,photo-reportage on gold digging,photographic e-book,ropes and rugs made of waste materials(nylon),exhibition of sea debris,maps/trails on Google maps with places of natural interest,PP presentations,videos,films,quiz show,conference+ exhibition on biodiversity,eco-flyers,posters,photos,drawing exhibition,writing competition on ecological topics,journal on the school blog,flash mobs,bike contest,international days celebrations,dissemination materials (logo,bookmarks,flyers, brochures,calendars,T-shirts,posters),Environmental Students Committee,protocols,Environmental Decalogue,ads,evaluation questionnaires, Christmas trees and postcards,different campaigns(recycling,bike use,reuse clothes,clean up,plastic)
There will be around 70 activities carried out locally-international environmental and ecology days, workshops, exhibitions, contests, research.By attending these activities, our students will form a vision of what the urban community of the future should look like, and will get to know protected areas they may have never been aware of before.Ss will acquire new skills and competences, such as ICT and communication skills in a foreign language. The project will also contribute to their personal development,as Ss will learn to be more broad-minded,tolerant,confident and supportive of each other. As for Ts,the proposed activities and the exchange of teaching techniques will undoubtedly be an encouragement and an inspiration for us in all respects, from upgrading our teaching approaches,to promoting European values. This project will be a life-long learning opportunity, personally and professionally. At an extended level,by observing the project activities, the whole school community,Ss,Ts,families, will indirectly benefit.
We expect this will have as effect a change of perspective on the importance of our role as citizens in preserving our natural heritage and maintaining our cities clean.Face to face interaction, first hand experience of different environments as well as learning by doing are vital in reaching the objectives of our project.Reading about protected areas of natural beauty will not have the powerful, longlasting impact of experiencing it directly.Theoretical knowledge on how to be green needs to be doubled by direct experimentation,if we want to trigger a change in our Ss’ and Ts’ attitudes and behavior in the long run.Working and living with Ss from other countries and cultures will boost the sense of multiculturalism and belonging to the larger European community, promoting their local culture and ideas, natural heritage and national values
We intend to continue our partnership after the project’s end, using eTwinning and our established contacts. We can set up and share new environmental activities, thus adding more facettes to our international profile. This will sharpen our profiles as open-minded organizations opening doors not only to a globalized economy but also for a Europe growing together. The schools will strengthen their role as important parts and driving factors of a Europe growing together on an economic and personal level within their town and regions
All educational communities are involved in this interdisciplinary project that will be integrated into the Annual General Programming of each school.
We pretend to have an impact in Ss,Ts,schools, other institutions, local and European communities.LTTAs will add value to the project by showing the products, participating in social, cultural tasks/events with varied, enriching activities, performing as ambassadors of their country in a closer Europe.
