Project Summary
DAL CAMPIDOGLIO AL CAPITOLE 2020-2022
This project originated during a mobility for teachers (KA101) in 2019. This mobility enabled our vocational school (LP LEMIRAIL) to agree upon a partnership with Istituto Luca Paciolo, Bracciano, Italy. We later fine tuned this partnership including Lycée Rive Gauche.
The 3 organizations all offer a wide range of trainings in the Design sector (Visual Merchandising, Objects Design, Space and Exhibit Design, Social Innovation, Architect Scenography).
The students aged between 15 and 17, a group of vocational students from Lycée Professionnel Le Mirail who volunteered to attend an elective European class in English. Another group of STD2A (Design) from Lycée Rive Gauche and students from Istituo Luca Paciolo majoring in Space Design, scenography and Tourism.
We have agreed to work on the Roman influence on our respective regions, and the heritage that is still visible today which explains our title.
The study and analysis of our History and heritage will constitute the bases of artistic créations but also of exchanges between participants about Professional skills, the use of Tools and historical knowledge.
For two years, 80 students will benefit from mobilities – 20 students a year form Luca Paciolo, 10 students a year for Lycée Rive Gauche and 10 students a year for Lycée professionnel Le Mirail. Each class will work on the project in workshops in relation to the Roman influence and heritage.
The goal of those workshops, is to make concretes objects such as pop-up, 3D printed objects, creation of stereoscope, camera obscura, scenography that includes a stydy of Italian immigration in France). During the mobilities the students will present and exchange on their project so that they can finalize it together. This work will be made in class. Moreover, visits will be organized in Toulouse and its surroundings – Roman ruins of Casselardit, the entrance gate of St Sernin Basilica, St Raymond Museum. In the same way, the French students will have the Opportunity to visit Rome (Campidoglio, Forum, Panthéon, Cinecittà…)
The project “Dal Campidoglio al Capitole” is intended the reinforce and anchor the sense of European citizenship in the footsteps of the Treaty of Rome of 1957.
Through it and through a shared historical heritage rooted in the human cultural, artistic and political exchanges we hope our students will develop a stronger sense about the issues of the European Union. Then, as we could realize through other Erasmus+ programmes, they are a powerful tool against early school leave. For many of our students they have enabled them to better define and realize their professional projects and have been a source of motivation. This as well could be an incentive for those students eager to carry on in futher education to Apply for a KA 103 programme in the future. For that matter, as mentioned in our project, we have contacted and met the teachers in charge of international mobilities at La Sapienza University in Rome and the I.S.I.A school in Rome. Those teachers should visit us soon.
“Dal Campidoglio al Capitole” is also the Opportunity for us to pay homage to the signature of the first European Treaty sealed in Marche 1957 on Capitol hill, this symbolic seat of power as well as our Capitole in Toulouse. Before benefiting from it, we must remind this is our legacy, hence the opportunity to give our students a stronger sense of the European issues that remain essential.
