Project Summary

As Global Citizen school, we believe that our students can enrich themselves by literally crossing borders. From the bridge class our students are trained to become world citizens, as described in our internationalization policy plan.
An exchange program is ideally suited to let young people come into contact across borders. Staying together, running into each other’s school life, going to sports clubs, showing each other the country makes much more impression than a holiday-like trip abroad.

To prevent financial circumstances of pupils from contributing to not being able to participate, a subsidy is necessary. The main goals of our project are:

1 pupils communicate in English
2 pupils learn about and respect each other’s culture, history and customs.
3 students improve their social skills such as adjusting and working together
4 All oral and written communication is in English
5 Students follow art classes, history lessons, visits museums. Students present to each other on regional and national subjects, customs and customs
6 Pupils stay together, play sports with each other, make assignments with each other, organize meetings together

On average, 15 Dutch and 15 Norwegian students take part annually in exchange, aged 14-15 years. We make duos based on gender and interests.
Two teachers who travel together take part in each country.
In addition, there are a group of guest lecturers in each country who enrich the group with knowledge.
The parents take care of the stay of the guest pupils and are responsible for daytime activities outside the program, organizing a farewell meeting and possibly an excursion.
Management of the school takes care of the reception.

Each partner school is responsible for selecting and matching students, booking the trip and making a program in consultation with each other. The program is submitted to the management of the school well in advance.
Parents are informed in advance during meetings so that the goals, responsibilities and expectations are clear.
The schools have been working together for 14 years and there is a good relationship. Personal contacts between teachers are well maintained.
In financial terms, teachers are responsible for making a budget and taking responsibility for this.

Students and teachers are selected for interest, enthusiasm and social skills.
Students are prepared via information meetings (with and without parents) regarding the exchange, such as program, code of conduct, rules, goals, contact with the partner
Safety is ensured through close contact between supervising teachers, pupils, parents and management and making clear agreements.
