Project Summary
Information Technology (IT) emits 2% of humanity’s greenhouse gas emissions.
They also contribute to reducing certain types of pollution, even if they produce toxic waste that pollutes eco-systems.
The “Green IT” project is part of a comparative study of the ecological management of the information technology (IT) environment.
This project should enable students to take a critical look at the use of materials and infrastructure for
the IT made available to them. This reflection is linked to the culture and social environment of young people.
If we can count on social diversity within the school, it is more difficult to consider cultural diversity.
This is why we want to open up this questioning to the international community.
With our partners in European high schools, we want to create a knowledge base on specific topics related to the ecology of
information technology, by comparing the visions of our students in each partner country.
This work will be based, over two years, on a joint reflection in each country and the co-development of action proposals, which will bring the partners together at a seminar on “Green IT in European high schools” in Saint Malo.
It will lead to the implementation of tools to ensure the sustainability of the project and provide the means and motivation to adopt an eco-responsible behaviour in terms of information technology
