Project Summary
Our schools/regions have a rich natural heritage, hitherto been underdeveloped and valued. We started convinced that, with good design support, our action could be an experimental laboratory capable of promoting:
-Education for environmental and sustainable development
-Entrepreneurship combined with the protection and enhancement of the environment
-More efficient use of resources
-Inclusive growth, social development, citizenship education, in an international dimension, the real added value of this project.
All the schools, in the partnership, shared the same problems, but some were an advanced example of good practice and sustainable development, playing a leading role, showing the most advanced experiences in development and sustainability, like Sweden, which has made known the production of energy free from fossil fuels such as renewable energies (wind farms, Sprogø Offshore Wind Farm in the Storebælt, large biomass cogeneration plants, Örtoftaverket, MAX IV new generation research center based on synchrotron radiation, built in Lund.
Other schools have made an important contribution by introducing projects and studies relating to the environment, public participation, climate change mitigation, sustainable territorial planning, biodiversity conservation, biodiversity monitoring, natural heritage. Significant was the creation of the “experimental field”, experience of “learning by doing” and cooperative learning (requalification of the environment, agriculture and entrepreneurship).
