Project Summary

Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, scientists, artists, scholars, administrators and change makers. Therefore, it is important that we equip our students with STEAM skills which includes the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. Rather than teaching the five disciplines as discrete subjects, STEAM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real world applications. It is a practice-oriented education becoming increasingly vital in the 21st century to design, develop a STEAM-literate population, to transform young people from consumers to producers and to ensure a highly qualified, creative and innovative workforce for the EU and the world as STEAM and innovation go hand in hand.
The main goal of our project “How To Make STEAM Literacy A Reality For All Students”’ is to provide a hands-on learning journey for our students and to enable them to experience the mechanics, strategy, teamwork and competition which are the factors that drive students’ lifelong interest and 21st century skills. It will make them be resourceful and confident, support activities aiming at developing the educational ecosystem of the EU and their future lives as the workforce of the EU. By the implementation of STEAM based programs into our education, the students need more than the ability to memorize facts and procedures. The aim is to prepare the students to think deeply, encourage them to challenge accepted knowledge to solve the most pressing challenges facing Europe and world, both today and tomorrow.
The participants will be around 750. The students who have good human relations and cooperative behavior will be the main figures of this project. As priority, students who are in need of learning different pathways and have economic problems or handicaps will be chosen. The project will involve experienced, willing, teachers from different branches who will be responsible for developing the activities. Families and NGO’s whose collaboration is vital are also involved. Accommodation and some parts of awareness tasks in our project will be carried out by the help of them.

Main goals:
-to allow students to direct the course of their own education, encourage risk taking,
-to foster a passion for learning which is the greatest gift in education and prepare for technological innovations,
-to enhance problem-solving skills, hands-on discovery, adaptations that reach students of all levels of ability,
-to provide greater understanding of concepts, application of knowledge and innovation, teamwork, collaboration and communication,
-to learn how to research, plan, gather data, design and draw conclusions to solve real-life needs,
-to build perseverance, determination, have the freedom of thinking critically, creatively, drive curiosity, belief in the abilities and thirst for knowledge,
-to emphasize the value of failure as a learning opportunity, make goals and take measurable steps to achieve them,
-to use the potential of Europe’s talent and social asset,
The activities will be: STEAM activities with workshops, questionnaires, a school STEAM program, creating STEAM exhibition room, miniature city, dream school, robotics, 3D DNA model, vinegar and hand cream making activity with their presentations, STEAM Fest including many cultural and traditional activities.
“How To Make STEAM Literacy A Reality For All Students”’ is a pedagogical project based on Kolb Methodology which argues that we learn from our experiences of life. We will also employ Waldorf methodology which aims to use learner-centered teaching methods and gives importance to meaningful learning. Besides them Montessori Methodology is used to offer opportunities for collaborative intellectual exploration in which the child’s interests are supported, guided, to support the development of self-confidence, imagination, intellectual independence and self-efficacy.
As a result, this project is our direct way to contribute to the development of cognitive and performance skills and executive function on teens. We will have a great deal of knowledge and experience on STEAM. Our teachers will teach lessons and organize events focused on these activities every year to raise awareness in the society. Students, teachers and families will learn to be the practitioners to raise awareness and participate, influence and succeed in a changing world.
We try to strengthen intercultural links with other European countries, to compare the different educational systems, different cultures, religions, habits, customs, and share our experiences.
Dissemination will be made in many ways via printed-published materials, social network, eTwinning, Erasmus+ project result platform and project website, representatives of local, regional authorities and communities as well as local media, cooperation between educational authorities, institutions.
