Project Summary

(In) Different Journey, is a project for training, experimenting and deepening tools, for theatrical and artistic intervention with people with disabilities. Aimed at professionals and learners in this area, it is a continuation of a vast work and actions carried out in previous projects, both national and European, with results of enormous quality and scope.
Starting from the book “The Unknown Island”, by José Saramago, Portuguese writer, Nobel Prize for Literature, we will start an exploratory work combining the action methodology based on creativity and the development of expressive, theatrical and musical practices and, concomitantly, on linked methodologies to physical and sensory stimulation technologies.
Through learning training in each country of the partnership, with the professional area of ​​artistic intervention in the area of ​​rehabilitation and people with intellectual disabilities and multi-disabilities, we develop experimental theater practices and artistic expressions. The final product will be a professional enrichment of all those involved, the edition of a book of good practices, presentation of the results of the project in the form of a show / theatrical performance, workshops and seminars. At the same time, implement new methodologies for physical and sensory stimulation in artistic practice, such as, among other resources, Mackey Mackey technology, and adapt it to these practices with people with disabilities.
The arts reveal themselves on a stage where people see people, what they are, think, think and say. This event takes place in a space, stage, where attention and all the senses converge. The artists seek the attention of the spectators, seek to understand and complicity. The astonishment of life happens in the eyes of the beholder. It seeks to be a unique unrepeatable time and infinite in time, in the memory of those present. The artists’ technique, the props, the involving technology such as sound, light, enhance the artist’s word and presence and message. This interaction between the artist and his means of expression is a creative interaction. Thus, an interface, Makey, Makey, a simplified device that connected to the computer allows, as its connections to different conductors, such as the body, a potentially creative interaction in which the body is the agent of the effects that occur on the stage. The simplicity of the Kit and its operation allows for unique creative potential. The use of Makey Makey in artistic expression has been used and explored both as expression and as therapy. This project allows professionals who work with people with disabilities and together to be innovative and create a new way of being and communicating on stage. This work will be inspiring and will make it possible for others to develop and share knowledge and sensitivities.
In terms of maximizing the extent of its intervention potential, diversifying the methodologies and, as a result, a wider scope of its action and greater reach in terms of partnerships.
There are six countries in the partnership: Portugal, Hungary, Finland, Turkey, France and Italy. In this demand, we will practice, practice, learn together. Through the differences, discover various ways of doing, creating new learning and new approaches.
We will all contribute to this addition of knowledge; both technicians, with their experience and bringing the culture of each organization, as well as learners, people with disabilities with infinite human potential and artistic creativity.
The project lasts for 24 months.
