Project Summary
CONTEXT:
Partnership formed by four public high schools from Spain, Germany, Poland and Sweden. IES Sol de Portocarrero, is on charge of this project as coordinator.
– IES SOL DE PORTOCARRERO (Spain): located in the outskirts of Almería, has to deal with the integration of many foreign students who have a completely different background and education, who come with low basic skills and who are at risk of early school leaving. It offers many regional educational programs for students, but unfortunately the expected performance is not achieved. This project was needed to give a boost to all these programs and to achieve the expected results. It was needed to increase the participation of students and families in the life of our school in extracurricular time.
– UPPLANDS-BRO GYMNASIUM (Sweden): is the Upplands-Bro municipality’s only secondary school. Upplands-Bro high school has in recent years received a large number of newly arrived refugees and to the school from the start one has a mixed socio-economic catchment this has made the school during’ve faced big challenges in how to organize themselves in order to meet students’ needs and create an environment that is characterized by good working and learning. Methods in how to get this students to perform well by letting them to physical activities is well needed and something that the school needed to develop.
– LICEUM OGOLNOKSTALCACE W PSARACH (Poland): is a small school in a rural area located in the Upper Silesia, 60 kilometers from Katowice. The small number of students is the problem we have to deal with for a few years. This is mainly due to the fact that this is a village school, the students prefer to attend schools in cities, more and more young people from our area choose vocational schools and the birthrate is very low. The implementation of international projects enhanced the prestige of the school in local community and in the result the recruitment of students to the school.
– EUROPASCHULE RÖVERSHAGEN: Located near the city of Rostock, and is approximately 10km from the Baltic coast in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Students needing special support make up 10 percent of the school population. School focuses focuses primarily in their emotional and social development, as well as in their difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Support for adolescents is of especial importance in the Regionale Schule side of our school, as many of these students come from underprivileged families and have previously had limited access to education.
PARTNERSHIP: results of the TCA (Transnational Cooperation Activity) held in Malaga in November, 2016.
OBJECTIVES:
A. GENERAL / LONG-TERM (LT) OBJECTIVES:
LT_1. To create and establish healthy habits of life as a sign of identity of our schools, where sports play a leading role.
LT_2. To promote the acquisition of these three values: excellence, friendship and respect, in the daily life of our students (academic activities, extracurricular activities, relationship with peers, teachers and family…).
LT_3. To achieve in our schools a real atmosphere of equality, where difference are seen as a valuable thing and where a real inclusion is easily noticeable.
