Project Summary

IDeRBlog II is based upon the Erasmus+ project IDeRBlog. Overall, the website contributes to the Implementation of new media in teaching. Furthermore, the possibility of blogging allows pupils to pursue a modern approach to writing. Alongside with an increase in motivation due to the publication of the texts, the acquisition of media competency as well as the improvement of orthography skills is given a high priority. This corresponds to the mission of the KMK paper “Education in the Digital World” in the areas of “Communicating and Cooperating”, “Producing and Presenting” and “Analyzing and Reflecting”.
The extension of the intelligent dictionary successfully developed and tested in IDeRBlog was one of the main goals of the project and was successfully done. The extension of the vocabulary of the intelligent dictionary by about 1000 words with the corresponding word forms and derived error words enables the coverage of a larger vocabulary of the users. This results in a performance improvement of the platform with regards to the analysis as well as the support of the students. In this context the platform improved by further individualizing training materials. Individualizing the platform was based on dynamic programming – now generating individualized exercises based upon the error words of the students while displaying those words in differentiated excercise formats.
In addition, programming with regard to an improved usability was performed. These did not only include the optimization of already integrated functions, but also the implementation of additional functions. An example of this is the guidance of the writing process. Students give their texts a heading after they have written the text or before they start writing
The use of the website is free for all. At the end of the project IDeRBlog II, the number of users encompass 25.000 pupils, 1100 teachers at schools in the German-speaking world.
Further participants are institutes of continuing education, ministries, universities and research facilities. These actively use and disseminate IDeRBlog II.
A further aim of the IDeRBlog II project was to develop strategies for a long term integration of the website in teaching. Hence, its goal was the implementation of open and innovative teaching practices in a digital age. In this context one major aim is the dissemination of the website in the German-speaking world. The long term implementation of the website in teaching is reinforced by a technical and content-based support. For the purposes of the project, a wealth of materials for preparing and teaching lessons as well as for support and advisement was generated. Users are entitled to use these when implementing the website didactically or when facing technical problems. Furthermore, the project aims at the developing and expanding of communication structures, in order to ensure the long term implementation of the website.
The product of the project is the long term implementation of the Website in educational structures (lessons, school, continued training, initial teacher education) in the German-speaking world as well as the individualization of training materials. In addition to that, benefits of the website are reflected by the students involved in terms of the improvement of their orthography skills and their media literacy.
A continuation of the project within the framework of other projects is planned.
