Project Summary
This project is a partnership between three countries, United Kingdom, Italy and Germany. Our project was based on entrepreneurship and inspiring at risk young people who are struggling with adolescence, often with absenteeism problems and difficulty adjusting in school, at risk of dropping out and joining illegal groups. We aimed to improve their engagement with school and make them more hopeful, active and useful citizens in society. Young people without any aim or hope for the future are like arrows without targets. We can’t say that our world is safe when it is full of untargeted arrows.
Through this Project, they had the chance to implement the information that they have learned from books theoretically but cannot carry out it in real life. Meeting successful business people and communication specialists inspired these young people and they were good role models in the process of reintegrating them into the society. They were also introduced to business people as role models; this created their confidence and hope in themselves as they were inspired by their success stories. They defined strategies by doing team work. They also created a business area with the strategies that they specify. The other partner schools were a marketing area in Europe for them. Each partner school established a business in different scope. By interviewing with the teams in partner schools on the behalf of the company which they will set up, they will commercialize their ideas. Different business scopes contributed to the improvement of the students’ knowledge and awareness in different fields and broaden their horizons. The students who have acquired entrepreneurship spirit before graduating from school will start their life hopefully, being experienced and one step ahead. Our project raised awareness of entrepreneurship and help young people understand the skills and attitudes needed to succeed and enable them to get an insight into what it would be like to start a business.
Approximately, 100 students and 20 teachers took part in the project. The students carried out the activities under the guidance of their teachers. The students created an emagazine, a real pop-up enterprise, visual presentations of role model entrepreneurs, project logo, poster, interview role model entrepreneurs, and some visited Chambers Of Commerce Industries, produced visual presentation of their countries’ culture and traditions, and prepared an Erasmus corner in their schools. The teachers arranged their national and international project teams, organised meetings to introduce the project and its objectives, carried out etwinning subproject, prepared evaluation surveys and reports.
We planned our dissemination activities to promote the objectives of the project in the dimension of national and international. All the activities were prepared in English by using web tools and the interviews with the entrepreneurs were recorded and shared in the project dissemination tools. As a result, more teenagers were inspired with the objectives of the project. After completing the activities, we prepared an evaluation form to assess the success of the project and to criticise ourselves objectively.
Our methodology was activity based because of real pop-up enterprises and solution oriented with the positive effects of role model entrepreneurs to the youth.
The Project was completed in two years. However, we have made our plans to make the objectives of the project beneficial in long term. That’s why entrepreneurship clubs will be organized in the partner schools and the idea will be presented as a suggestion to the school administrators in the region of partner schools. All the activities and feedbacks were shared in the project dissemination tools. Partner schools are able to follow each other and continue inspiring the youth. The friendship that made during international project meeting will keep going and even they can make their entrepreneurial ideas real by collaborating with each other.
