Project Summary

The decision to initiate a project “International preparation and cooperation on future work life based on bilateral experience and digital resources“ originates in demands, problems and impacts resulting from socio-economic and increasing digital challenges coming up from the needs of labor market for younger adults affecting our two countries in different ways as well as in the circumstances/difficulties connected with refugees. Therefore our project does not only focus in solving problems for European pupils and students but also in installing digital network and collaborative work.

Both participating schools are located in rural regions with specific conditions, so they face similar problems such as: loss of (‘old’) industries and inhabitants, the lack of new ones like services or production, the necessity to develop new labor fields; by showing how each school prepares its students for their specific labor market the another partner will learn to improve its own methods.

With the project the following objectives are achieved:
1) to learn about and compare every countries’ school system in general and every schools’ curriculum in particular concerning the topic
2) due to these comparisons to develop further, revise and adapt the existing curricula at every school
3) to install (revised) links between school and enterprises
4) to support students with career planning
5) to become more professional in using IT for an easier entry to European labor market
6) to strengthen European and to avoid nationalistic thinking.

The project will be open for students at the age from 13-17 (classes 7-10), teachers, local enterprises, institutions, authorities, also families and wider community through hosting, events and local media. Local enterprises will offer an opportunity to do job shadowing, one-day placement, to learn about services/products.

Project activities are carried out in 2019-2021. In the first year 2019/2020 the platforms for publications/ dissemination will be established; both schools will introduce their profiles. Common tasks will be presented/ introduced to the partners by students using modern digital tools (Padlet, Skype etc.). Students exchange will take place in Germany in May/June 2020. Students will have an overview of local jobs/ professions, visit local enterprises, do one-day job experience placements, have an IT workshop.

In 2020/2021 the project will continue with sharing common tasks to the partners by using digital tools. Students exchange will take place in Estonia in May/June. Students will introduce good examples of portfolios of the career plans, visit local enterprises, have an IT workshop, do job shadowing.

PRODUCTS will be uploaded on the common webpage/Twinspace.

Expected results will be:
– a partnership website with all the outcomes of the project
– developing certain skills of the students– analytical thinking, problem solving, cooperation and teamwork, speaking and writing skills, creativity, entrepreneurships, IT competences
– involvement of families; cooperation via organizing events/hosting guests.
– strengthened involvement of companies/ local communities via the project activities
– professional enrichment for teachers/ exchange of good practices/ transnational cooperation
– new revised curricula will be established at every school taking part, developed further or renewed.

The project will have an influence on participants concerning the life-long learning process. The documentary of the project process will be kept in both schools and will be a base of following classes (e.g. career planning for Estonia, new IT curriculum for Germany/ media-concept). The products of the project/good examples of students’ works will be used continuously in lessons after finishing our project. Both schools will have motivated and competent staff (e.g. German colleagues will be motivated to deal with new IT instruments, Estonian colleagues will be more experienced to carry out career planning lessons). Partnerships between enterprises and schools will be established.

Both schools will continue the common work in order to exchange experiences.
