Project Summary
The project pursues the fulfillment of two ideas, social and vocational education. The aim of the project is to establish friendship and cooperation with a partner school, to improve the training of students of agricultural and horticultural disciplines and to increase their future employment opportunities, including employment of students with special educational needs or disabilities and the Czech minority living in Croatia. Specifically, these are students with hearing impairments , with varying degrees of mental retardation, specific behavioral and learning disorders, socially disadvantaged or endangered by socially pathological phenomena, or with multiple disabilities.
Students and workers’ mobility focuses on the following main themes: combating educational failures, motivating learning, increasing the attractiveness of vocational training in horticulture, agriculture and food, strengthening the relationship between school and business, and promoting the professional development of school staff.
The main output of the project will be the creation of presentation educational materials focusing on the history, treatment and use of fruit trees and shrubs, highlighting in particular Prunus domestica or plum – the “blackthorn” – the Wallachia national tree that connects not only Czech students but the Czech minority living in Croatia. It is about:
1. sign language video created from videos taken as part of student mobility and internships
2. a methodological booklet created by educators with the aim of using the material in teaching in horticultural, agricultural and food industries as well as in leisure-time organizations.
The implementation of this project will broaden the horizons not only of students but also of teachers thanks to increased quality and innovation in youth work. There will be significant social inclusion of disadvantaged students and a deeper international cooperation between the two countries. By focusing on key competences, students will gain new knowledge in vocational training, thereby increasing their chances for future employment in the labor market, offering them the possibility of easier transition into adulthood and eliminating the problems that this transition could bring. Students will also gain new cultural knowledge, acquire the ability to present and, thanks to working together with teachers, gain organizational support in the integration into the labor market. Teachers will enhance their professional development by visiting a partner city and school where they can draw on new ideas and experiences. They will also increase their knowledge of education and innovative approaches and increase their motivation for everyday work at school. The synergic effect is also the convergence of the towns of Valašské Meziříčí and Hrubečné Pole and their municipalities and the related possibility of cooperation in other areas.
The impact of the project at the local level will be not only on the partner school involved, but also on schools and school facilities in Valašské Meziříčí and Hrubečné Pole, by disseminating unique educational materials – project outputs.
The regional benefit is ensured with regard to the possibility of presenting the outputs as part of school and cultural performances at events in the surrounding towns of the region (eg Children’s Day, fairs, folklore, etc.). The international level of dissemination of the project will be ensured thanks to the cooperation of Valašské Meziříčí and the Croatian region, where the Czech minority lives and has foreign partners (eg Poland, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Germany).
