Project Summary

Project entitled “Learn together – create opportunities” was implemented by 6 institutions related to adult education from Poland, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Romania and The UK. It was planned for 2 years, but due to the COVID-19 epidemic, its implementation period was extended to almost 3 years.
The main aim of the project was to support adults from disadvantaged groups (people with learning disabilities, unemployed, refugees, people with economic difficulties) with low literacy and reading skills and to provide them with a positive learning and cultural education experience. The project was also an excellent opportunity to promote the idea of lifelong learning and adult creativity.
The most important effects of the project are primarily intangible – related to the development of creativity and students basic skills (writing, reading, counting), as well as computer skills, communication, teamwork, planning and conducting discussions. The project activities were to improve key skills, i.e. writing and reading comprehension, numeracy and IT skills. Working with groups of adults, we implemented various innovative methods to assess their effectiveness in the education process. We developped not only effective methods for writing, reading and numeracy skills, but also interesting methods to increase the level of adult involvement in their selfdevelopment.
All partner institutions improved the quality of their own work and gained new experiences through the exchange of good practices. Teachers learned about innovative methods and they enriched their skills.
During the training in Greece participants of the project – students, prepared digital stories on European issues with storytelling method. Their stories became an opportunity for discussion on the European Union and intercultural dialogue.
Teachers and trainers involved in the project prepared “The Innovative Methods Guide” – a publication describing effective innovative methods for adult education process. They are examples of good practices.
Each of the partner institutions used innovative methods during various activities with adults – during the first year of the project implementation they were carried out in a traditional way, and due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, they were mostly online.
The team’s international meetings took place in Poland, Great Britain, Romania (online) and Greece (hybrid).
Training courses for students and staff were also organized in Spain and Greece (hybrid).
“Learn together – create opportunities” project gave an opportunity to involve a group of Europeans in their own development, and contributed to changing their attitudes. It allowed partner institutions to expand the offer of activities targeted at adults.
International activities promoted attitudes of tolerance, openness to other cultures and mutual understanding – so necessary in contemporary Europe.
Learning together has created new educational opportunities and cooperation at European level has made it possible to get to know and understand other cultures.
