Project Summary

Erasmus project “Déjame Pensar”, which emerged from a similar Etwinning project in the 2018 academic year, has left its mark on the entire educational community of the centers which have been working on it.
The reflection of the activities carried out during its development shows a great involvement in its main topic, gender-based violence, around which we have been working from different areas and in parallel in the two countries involved, Italy and Spain, always using participatory and social inclusion methodologies.
On the basis of the idea that social exclusion, and specifically that referred to women, is directly related to education, it has been intended to develop and promote among students their critical thinking focused on respect between equals regardless of race or gender. Besides, dialogue has been promoted as a resource for conflict resolution and as a means to make public students’ own opinions on issues that interest and directly affect them. All this has fostered a collaborative environment and this coexistence has transcended to other sectors of the educational community, teachers and families, who have been firmly involved in
the development of the objectives of this project. The teachers participating in this project have not only tried to transmit their knowledge and experiences but have also tried to encourage a convivial atmosphere facilitating a highly
enriching approach between students and teachers. With regard to the families, they have collaborated whenever their participation has been asked, encouraging the use of dialogue in family relationship which could cause potential conflicts.
The visibility of the activities carried out has made possible for external organizations, directly related to society and its well-being, such as the City Councils of the both cities and their Social Affairs Departments as well as the Regional Ministry of Social Welfare, to take part in many of these activities and to collaborate in the publication of some of the students ́ works , students who have been directly involved and whose creativity and initiative have imbued the results of this ambitious project.
On the other hand, the achievement of the objectives of the project has given our teachers and students the opportunity to know other cultures, educational systems and to maintain social relations, share interests and experiences with other Italian teachers and students, encouraging them to broaden their professional horizons throughout the European community.
In summary, this project, “Déjame Pensar”, has laid the foundation for a new educational Plan in which social exclusion, especially towards women, is minimised thanks to the respect, dialogue and teamwork of the entire educational community.
