Project Summary
Our project’s main themes are environment protection, recycling and acting against the waste of resourses (especially water, food and energy) because caring about the world we live in should be a crucial element of our life. The project is written for 12-17 year-old students from six European schools. As far as the students and teachers who will be involved, the amount of participants from each school will depend on its size. The work of students will be monitored and supported by a team of experienced teachers of different subjects.
The project was written after a diagnosis of partner schools’ needs. Its aims are:
– raising ecological awareness of local society;
– promoting a healthy lifestyle;
– building the habits of caring for natural environment and acting against the waste of resources (especially water, food, and energy);
– raising the knowledge concerning natural environment;
– improving language competence and ICT skills;
– promoting cooperation of European schools;
– shaping pro-European attitudes and inter-cultural integration by national and international group work;
– developing creativity and creative thinking by taking part in problem solving tasks;
– creating the environment for new ideas and using them in the future;
– encouraging the participants to take up new challenges and duties;
– enriching teachers experiences by exchanging work results;
– developing the ability of presentation of their own work results.
We do realise our activities have to be widely promoted to have a positive influence on society. Our project has a European dimension, we will work in national and international groups. We have planned one international meeting and 5 educational meetings (learning, teaching, workshops). At the meetings, the students will also learn practical skills during computer, technical, musical, photographic, film, art or cooking workshops.
The students will plant their own little gardens and take care of them. They will prepare economical family budgets and learn how to prepare healthy dishes. Besides, they will make products out of recycling materials which will probably inspire them. They will promote ecological behaviour, organize classes for students from primary schools, an Eco-picnic, an Eco-fashion show, exhibitions of their photos and works. They will also prepare an Eco-festival in their own schools to sum up their work. This event will be held every year. Moreover, they will create a Certificate of Environment Friendly Schools which will be given to partner schools working on environmental issues.
We will learn using problem solving techniques and concentrate on active methods of teaching. The students will be our partners. They will be authors of all the activities we want to take up. We believe they will become responsible European citizens.
After finishing the project all the participants:
– will care for the environment and their surroundings;
– will share their knowledge with other students, parents and local society;
– will improve their language and ICT skills;
– will have courage to look for new solutions;
– will use their knowledge and abilities;
– will be willing to join other ecological projects in the future.
