Project Summary

Let’s Tune in to Europe is a project on music and for music, whose aim is to educate and sensitize young people to that universal language, that reality that allows people to communicate, to bridge the gap between different ways of living but also to express personalities, feelings and various aspects of different lives and cultures.A timeless language, without territories or boundaries. A language where the words chord and harmony evoke positive values and emotions. In a world where words such as hatred, vengeance, racism and persecution prevail amongst others, music, travelling faster and reaching people’s souls more easily, can help us spread those positive values that should inspire children’s and grown-ups’ everyday life.Like the musicians of a big orchestra that, although playing different instruments, play according to the same melody, every human being should behave and act towards a better world. And the final objective is to create a “European Orchestra”, involving teachers and pupils of seven partner schools: Castelfidardo, Italia – Kadrina, Estonia – Koszecin, Polonia – Rujiena, Latvia – Vidin, Bulgaria – L’Aquila, Italia – Zalamea de la Serena, Spagna.Playing together will allow pupils and teachers to experience real European citizenship, to develop their potentials, to improve their emotional, interpersonal and social relationships: a never-ending source of evolution, gratification, and satisfaction.Every schools’ educational offer aims at enhancing musical education but also the educative role played by music as a way of improving self-esteem, operational autonomy, cooperation and sense of belonging to a group. Equally important, they will be able to compare and exchange vocal and instrumental didactic practices, musical contents and methodology and the quality criteria used for the certification of pupils’ achievements.Amongst the objectives of the project:-make the pupils musical, let them “live” music, read it, create it, improvise it, always keeping in mind the European Dimension;-set up musical laboratories to allow creativity and expressiveness at a transnational level;- set up transnational ensemble music groups that could perform during transnational meetings;- compose an hymn of the project that should point out the value of music in the pupils’ education;-share the experience with families and the local community. Each activity will be organized focusing on the creative approach that belongs to music, by using practical methods such as Yamaha, Dalcroze, Kodaly and Orff, by switching from rhythmic work to group work to interactions with peers and music experts, focused exercises of vocal and instrumental practice through the use of structured materials but also through the use of the ICT.All the activities will allow pupils to develop their musical competence but also to enrich their culture.During its implementation, the project will give everyone the opportunity to get to know different scholastic and cultural realities, thus opening them up to new cultural horizons and giving them that open-mind attitude that today’s global and intercultural society requires.Teachers from all the partner schools will benefit from this partnership because it will improve their professional experience through exchange of good practices and comparison with other European scholastic realities. The dissemination activities foreseen by the project, the regular updates of each partner school websites and Erasmus + corner, the involvement of families, local authorities and community, especially on the occasion of short-term mobilities, will improve the knowledge of the European Dimension of education, in consideration that schools cannot be closed to the world but need to be open to dialogue, to cooperation and transnational condivision. The seven participating schools belong to countries that cover Europe from north to south, from east to west and each one of them will bring along their historical, social and cultural identities, thus considerably enriching all the schools. Each experience in the field of didactic innovation and intercultural dialogue, of acquired, consolidated or boosted competences, from both pupils and teachers, all these aspects represent a unique added value.Focusing on the European Dimension of education, the realization of such a project acquires the value of a proper in-service training for teachers but also of a constant research / action activity within the classroom.
