Project Summary
Project: Limitless electric mobility ……..
Compared with traffic based on internal combustion engines, electromobility offers a series of very decisive advantages, both from an economic and an ecological point of view:
• more energy-efficient transportation,
• the reduction of CO2 emissions,
• security of energy supply through diversification of energy sources,
• less noise in traffic
• a significant reduction in the health effects caused by exhaust gases.
As a result, intensive work is being done in all European countries to implement new mobility concepts. Last but not least, this is necessary to keep Europe competitive in the global mobility sector.
The job description of the motor vehicle mechanic changes rapidly in this context. Not only the electric drive, but the multitude of driver assistance systems, networking (keyword Industry 4.0) up to the autonomous driving requires an enormous development of competences.
Training contents as well as teaching and learning concepts must be adapted to the requirements of electromobility specific qualification. Here the project was located.
During the mobilities, learning situations were presented, practiced and evaluated to each other. The trainees (dual system) brought their acquired skills to their companies and acted as multipliers..
The pupils worked out different learning situations in an action-oriented manner under the guidance of the teacher teams both in the schools in Wolfsberg and Wolfenbüttel. In addition to professional competence, the focus was on methodological competence (e.g. evaluation methodology, use of communication platforms, presentation techniques) and the expansion of social skills.
A central component of the mobility was that the trainees had the opportunity to get to know other processes in the companies and schools in the partner country. They gained additional qualifications for their professional careers. At the end of the C3 mobility, the pupils involved received the Europass.
The following project goals were achieved:
Goals for the students / trainees
• Acquisition of skills (technical / methodological / social skills)
• Getting to know other work processes and structures in companies and schools in the partner country
• Enrichment of one’s own personality
• Establishing contacts with trainees in the partner country
• Competitive advantage over other trainees (springboard)
• Receipt of Europass (internationally recognized mobility certificate)
Goals for the school / for the trainers
• Strategic partnership
• Strengthen the profile of the school, European school
• Teaching intercultural skills and tolerance
• Broaden the horizons of students and teachers, increase motivation
• Strengthening relationships with the school environment (participating companies, craftsmen, city, municipality, …)
• Access to the expertise of the participating institutions
Goals for the participating training company
• Strengthening the image as a modern, cosmopolitan training company in the craft
• Increasing the attractiveness as a training company
• Trainees brought with them ideas for process optimization from their experiences abroad
• Increasing the motivation of the trainees
Objectives for the project environment
• Enthusiasm for resource-saving mobility was aroused
• Participating institutions had the opportunity to present themselves (e.g. Autostadt Wolfsburg, automotive suppliers, destinations in Berlin and Graz)
Objectives for the project environment
• Arouse enthusiasm for resource-efficient mobility in Wolfsbergs and Wolfenbüttels regions
• Participating institutions have the opportunity to present themselves during the excursions (for example Autostadt Wolfsburg, University of Ostfalia, automotive suppliers, destinations in Berlin and Graz)
We have succeeded in letting a large number of students (> 100) take part in our project. Students from FBS and CGLS from different years of apprenticeship worked on the project via video conferences. These regular video teaching units are firmly established and will continue to be carried out.
The project laid the foundation for a knowledge database. Future projects in the field of vehicle technology (e.g. on important innovative topics such as networking, driver assistance systems and autonomous driving) will allow this database to grow and thus also make an important contribution to the education of future generations of students.
An intensive partnership has emerged between the schools, and further projects are being planned. Friendships have developed between the students and the teaching teams.
