Project Summary

Collège Henri Bourrillon (Mende, Lozère, Occitanie, France) and Colegio Cristo de la Yedra(Grenade, Andalousie, Espagne) are secondary schools which have been forging relationships since 2009, they became « twinned » in 2012, and their pupils have already done many exchanges. The project was crowned thanks to the three-week immersion of 6 pupils preceding exchanges for the rest of the group.

The bearer of this project is Collège Henri Bourrillon. It is located in a rural area. It has 67 teachers and 745 pupils who get general or specific needs teaching.

The project aims at sharing and discovering together by :

-Promoting skills development.

-Meeting, getting to know each other and longing to see each other again.

-Accepting social and cultural differences.

-Developing, improving and boosting language skills (speaking and understanding) between the students and their families.

-Discovering another culture, another school system, another approach of disabled pupils in both schools.

-Knowing and recognizing the cultural reality of another country, a region, a town through History, legends and modernity.

-Opening up to Europe and to future mobility prospects.

The project involves 90 participants : 82 fourth year pupils and 8 teachers (litterature, language, biology and P.E teachers)

The activities dedicated to “living and discovering together” aim at stimulating initiative, creativity and involvement :

-Activities will be balanced to leave time for exchanges between students

-Moments for exchanging will be set up through workshops (drama, music, songs, outdoor activities)

-Cultural visits (connected to History, legends and modern life) will be proposed

-Students will learn typical dances from each country

-The students will be welcome at the town hall to enhance the riches of the exchange

-Common activities will be planned during school time

Communication between the two schools and expected impact :

-Cultural and personal enrichment

-Discovering, sharing, knowing, accepting differences

-Communicating in a foreign language

-Creating links that will last overtime

-Awakening a cultural sensitivity

-Improving language skills
