Project Summary
The LV & PV Strategic Partnership is an educational project within the framework of the Erasmus + programme that has established an international cooperation on innovation and exchange of good practices in the field of adult education.
The project dealt with issues of foreign language teaching and aimed at improving the quality of adult language training by providing an answer to the question of the use of cultural heritage and its educational value in the teaching of foreign languages in the digital age.
It brought together partners from six countries: France, Germany, Cyprus, Denmark, Great Britain, Poland. Training organisations of different nature took part in this multi-actor partnership: 5 non-profit organisations (associations) and one school.
The desire to explore the links between cultural heritage and the teaching of foreign languages at the crossroads of digital technology – this was the scientific and pedagogical ambition of the project.
To this end, the international team has found the right answer to the needs of high-quality teaching learners, leading them to discover different cultural heritage.
We have set ourselves important objectives: to research, study, catalog, map, describe and in this thus to revitalise the best elements of the Russian cultural heritage by integrating them into foreign language teaching courses for adults.
All partners were involved in the activities related to the implementation of the project (design, management, communication, evaluation, organisation of 4 transnational meetings, final product development, dissemination and sustainability of the results).
In addition, each partner has set up activities in their own organisation (research work, selection and description of high places, writing scenarios, expeditions to the filmed locations, editing videos, testing video in focus groups etc.).
Some local events were also organised with the help of associated partners: “The Roaring Twenties” festival (France), 3 thematic dances (Denmark, Germany, Poland), 3 conferences on the theme of the project (France), 2 painting exhibitions (France) etc.
Through this synergistic work the international team has resulted in the creation of an interesting educational tool which includes:
• article “The didactics of cultural heritage in modern language teaching in the digital age” explaining the theoretical framework of the concept of cultural heritage;
• directory and cartography of Russian high places selected with descriptions in Russian and French;
• collection of 30 didactic texts;
• collection of 31 videos and 31 audios;
• pedagogical recommendations.
In the results achieved, let us also quote:
1. Reactivation of networks and exchanges of good practices.
2. Professionalisation of teams and staff involved. For the creation of quality videos, it was necessary to be at the same time writers, cameramen and finally editors of the videos.
3. Improvement of the linguistic, cultural and numerical performances of the participants thanks to the work on the content and the form of the teaching tool as well as on the means of transposition of the educational contents on the digital supports.
4. Better reading of the phenomenon of cultural heritage and its understanding in the intercultural dialogue through the cross-examination of views on the subject.
5. Providing target audiences with original content on digital media:
educational chain LV & PV;
-website of the project with the documentary corpus of the project;
-gallery of images and clips on Instagram;
-Facebook page.
6. Greater pedagogical accessibility of digitized documents, tested and proven in focus groups compared to traditional presentation methods.
7. Successful mobilisation around the project. The success of the project has helped many people: three composers, a sculptor, a pianist, two conductors with their musicians, artists, young people and others.
It goes without saying that the efforts made will bear their fruits only if the project lifespan will become part of a larger dynamic through the exploitation of its results a posteriori by other organisations.
We believe that the evidence-based, active teaching strategy that results from our research will encourage the collaborative work of our colleagues in other disciplines and motivate them to create their own educational channels.
In order to offer project’s ideas a better educational impact on the target audiences, we will keep the website and the YouTube video channel operational after the end of the project adding new interesting contents.
