Project Summary
People live in groups and we are part of a coexistence in which we must be all inclusive and the school is a great example of this coexistence; a large heterogeneous group of people in which conflicts can arise that are inevitable and typical of human beings.
Because this is a common problem in schools in all three partner countries, we have a common motivation and have decided to implement a mediation and inclusion project. Mediation seeks to bring people involved in a conflict closer, so that they themselves decide and agree on the most satisfactory solution with the help of other impartial people who facilitate constructive communication between the parties through dialogue.
To carry the project forward, the members of the three partner countries will do a training on mediation and how to introduce it in our centers. The implementation of this project will help us to carry out an inclusive education, so it is necessary to impregnate the culture of the center with this idea and to provide it with the appropriate personal, organizational, methodological, material and technological supports that ensure the presence, the participation, the learning and the progress of each and every student.
The objectives we want to achieve in the project are the following:
– Further study of the concept of inclusive school.
– Self-evaluation of the degree of satisfaction and well-being of the students and their families.
– To improve coexistence in our center by promoting dialogue, cooperation and responsibility.
– To promote and enhance the participation of the members of the Educational Community in this project.
– To develop in our students the capacity for dialogue and the improvement of their communication skills.
– To understand the conflict as a starting point for the dialogue and to learn to generate possible alternatives for its resolution.
– To learn to recognize and value the feelings, interests, needs and values of others and themselves.
– To encourage mediation among peers as a basic tool in conflict management.
– To begin to carry out formal mediations by the mediating students.
– To improve inclusivity in the internal activities of the center, involving children who have more skills with students who have more difficulties.
With the development of these goals the results we want to reach are to achieve a good coexistence in the school, that our schools become inclusive, to understand the conflict as the starting point of the dialogue, to learn to generate possible alternatives for its resolution. and to foster peer mediation as a basic tool in conflict management.
In our project we have designed the activities that we will carry out during the two courses. The first year we will carry out the training of the teachers of the three countries in the field of mediation and the second year we will begin in the execution of mediation.
The initial activities will foster the knowledge between the three partners and the training activities will serve to develop the inclusion of all students, improve school coexistence through dialogue and cooperation and foster the participation of the entire educational community by disseminating the project to share and adapt it to our immediate environment.
The groups participating in the project will be the following:
– Faculty members of the Mediation Commission trained in the Mediem innovation project.
– Team of mediation students selected and trained to carry out the task of mediators.
– Porc Espí Association, a non-profit association whose purpose is to work to extend mediation and conflict management.
– Teachers, as this is a project that involves the whole school.
– Dining Monitors, we understand it as a support service for families and as an educational space in which conflicts must also be managed.
– Students of the center (6-12 years), all students will be actively involved in the project.
– Students of 6th who will participate in the mobilities (11-12 years), to be the oldest students of the center will be those who will participate in the mobilities.
To carry out our project we have used the eTwinning platform whereby we have brought in contact with the other European centers thus developing our work in a secure environment.
Finally, we hope that the project will have an impact at the school level, starting with the teaching and non-teaching staff, students at the center and parents involved in the school community. The project will move its performance locally and regionally. Through the media, the importance of the project for our environment and life in society will be highlighted. At the same time, a dissemination task will be carried out in the other countries of the European Community so that everyone can know and value inclusion and mediation in educational work. Shcools participating in this project will benefit from the inclusion of mediation techniques to the daily lives of their centers.
