Project Summary

The “migration crisis” in Europe and the new waves of migration be it political, climatic, etc. has considerably increased the number of practitioners dealing with the demands of different migrants/refugees and asylum seekers; in particular workers in institutions such as :
1° trade unions defending these precarious workers, subjected to economic exploitation or undeclared work where the standards of national and European social law are neither made explicit nor respected, and
2° associations that see their training offer (language, citizenship, etc.) extended to migrants.

The partners are convinced of the importance of welcoming migrants as a whole to enable them to know their rights and develop their capacity to act. Integration must respond to the emergency situations of migrants while thinking about their longer-term integration in the host country. The acquisition of these social and human rights is one of the pillars of the European Union.

Migr’action then defined the following objectives to participate in the construction of an inclusive society and a more social and humane Europe by improving the integration of migrants at the economic, social and civic level and more particularly at the reception stage, orientation and mobilisation as part of its journey:
– consolidating a Europe-wide partnership for better transnational synergies, strengthening the role of the partner institutions in this area.
– to strengthen the skills of practitioners who accompany the specific public (here migrants) in order to better understand other contexts and to discover methodologies, tools, initiatives in other European countries.
– To exchange on effective and innovative strategies, more particularly through the exchange of participative and digital tools and practices aimed at facilitating the reception, orientation and mobilisation of migrants in the context of their integration process.

Between 10 and 15 professionals (counsellors, trainers, adult educators, guidance agents, intercultural mediators) from the 6 partner organisations based in Italy, France and Belgium (CSC Mons La Louvière, CIEP Hainaut Centre, CFDT Ile de France, IAL, ANOLF, CISL Abruzzo) will be involved in joint learning sessions as well as around 20 professionals working closely with the organisations involved.
In these learning moments, they will exchange on the contexts of the different regions as well as on practices, initiatives and tools related to the reception, orientation and mobilisation of migrants for a better social, civic and economic integration.

The result will take the form of a Guide to Good Practice, capitalising on all the elements that can be transposed to a European level and exploited in other contexts.

The impacts for the participating organisations will be on the one hand to strengthen their role and missions and on the other hand to develop new practices on issues of integration of migrant people. Another impact is the consolidation of their partnership on the theme of economic, social and civic integration of migrants on a European scale. Transnational cooperation will then be integrated into their strategic development. They will thus improve their organisation and international reputation, which is conducive to contributing at their level to the EU’s social and economic projects.
At practitioner level, the overall impact is the integration of the transnational dimension in their own context through, for example, the application of participatory and intercultural strategies, tools and methodologies explained by other partners. They will increase their capacity to improve their skills and competences as well as the quality of their daily work. They will enhance their professionalisation through a more integrated approach to the integration of migrants/refugees, at the level of reception, mobilisation and guidance.
