Project Summary

The partnership oryginally planned for 7 countries has been realized with 5 countries: France, Iceland, Hungary, Poland, Italy. The establishments were varied in size, age group and specificity. This project involved directly about 1000 children and 80 teachers. We wanted to find answers to the difficulties encountered in our schools: lack of respect, intolerance, multiplication of conflicts during recreation, marginalization, increase number of pupils with difficulties, loss of taste of the effort.
In small schools all teachers were involved, in big partners schools, teachers from different disciplines were involved. All institutions have created a mutual event and training around an original and sporting approach. Partners created a hiking trail containg sport, cultural and historical tasks supported with a presentation and a brochure.

The objectives were to develope skills among:
Children :
• Individual: improvement of basic school skills, lifestyle, regular sports practice, improvement of self-confidence
• Social: responsibility, solidarity, acceptance of others, European citizenship
Teachers:
• Improvement of their teaching skills
• The ability to adapt and change their didactic methods
• The desire to share experience with their European partners
• A desire to open up to Europe
These objectives were developed through sporting activities, a reflection on the hygiene of life, meetings with teachers and students from partners’ schools and exchange of experience.

The project took place during the 2 years including: 3 transnational project meetings dedicated to work between teachers, multiple exchanges of work through the internet, the use o eTwinning platform, 3 periods for short term exchange of group of pupils mobilities and short term joined staff training events of 5 days each, project presentation and follow-up events to local partners (municipalities, associations, parents, hierarchy).
Each institution has set up a walking route around its establishment. The implementation of the actions and the sharing of the practices was done around this realization. Each school group has shared its experience in physical education and healthy lifestyle. The sharing of methods, approaches around sport activities has diversified and enriched the approach of teachers of 5 partners countries.
We studied the culture of each country, the functioning of our schools, our daily and family lives, our ways of spending free time, our social activities and our physical practice. The exchange of practices between teachers guided the progress of the project. Each school presented sports activities specific to its country.

This project has contributed to the development of social and civic skills, taking into account social interactions when conducting physical activities. We have led students to develop and accept individual and collective rules to improve their performance in sports games but also to assume their own limits. This project contributed to use of our mother tongue and a foreign language on higher level.
Our actions made possible fighting wiht prejudices and improve social relations in schools. The actions carried out helped the children to gain confidence. Teachers have a better knowledge of the European education systems now. This project federated all the staff of the schools, the municipalities, it created a collective dynamic of work. The project made possible to reinforce the notion of solidarity and respect of others among adults and children.
The materials prepared/produced during the course ensures the durability of the work. It will remain a reference of European collaboration for the local community and the main actors of the project.
