Project Summary

CONTEXT:
– Lifelong learning is a challenge for adults: complex, dynamic, always changing. Additional competences are needed in order to act situationally and self-organized. Non-formal adult learning can make an important contribution.
– It helps adults to strengthen their personality and attitude. It widens their perspective and empowers them to take responsibility for themselves and for their social surroundings and to get actively and meaningfully involved in the growing, multicultural Europe.

OBJECTIVES:
– Become acquainted with our partners’ profiles
– Learn from each other in terms of best practices
– Learn how other partners master challenges
– Analyze education formats
– Discuss social challenges and work out fields of actions

NUMBER AND PROFILE OF INSTITUTIONS AND PARTICIPANTS:
Seven adult educational institutions with two experts each have contributed to this project. From Germany there were three organizations: Stefanus-Gemeinschaft e.V. in Heiligkreuztal, Bildungshaus Kloster St. Ulrich in Bollschweil as well as K-Punkt Ländliche Entwicklung im Kloster Heiligkreuztal. From Austria came Stefanus-Gemeinschaft in Tirol and SPES Zukunftsakademie in Schlierbach/OÖ. Italy participated with Bildungshaus Schloss Goldrain in Goldrain/Vinschgau. The lead of the project held Stefanus Liechtenstein e.V.
The 14 experts show rich and profound experiences and well as the necessary creativity and vision power to synergistically develop and realize new ideas for a substantial non-formal adult learning.

DESCRIPTIONS OF THE ACIVITIES ROLLED OUT:
– Knowing about the persons and organizations, their working areas, guiding principles and local specialties.
– Learning of examples of good practice and solutions of difficult situations
– Analyzing of social developments and transversal competences as well as adjusting with the goals of the seven adult educational institutions
– Checking possibilities of future forms of cooperation, clarifying the potential of synergies for future projects
– Additional topics discussed: The “heart” education – emotional intelligence, values and digitalization. Deepening in the field of “heart” education.

REACHED RESULTS AND THEIR IMPACT:
– Extension of competences especially with the subjects of heart” education – emotional intelligence, values and digitalization as well as the moderation of adult educational formats
– Knowhow of the participating adult educational institutions and their environment
– Extension of the network within German and Austrian educational associations: Arge Bildungshäuser Austria, Verband der Bildungszentren im ländlichen Raum (DE), Verband der Bildungszentren ländlicher Raum in Bavaria (DE).
– Attention and higher perception in the public

Partner internal:
– Adaption of strategy and content of the daily work, i.e. SPES Zukunftsakademie: work on strategic paper for better digitalization. Or Bildungshaus St. Ulrich: new formats for “heart” education. Stefanus Liechtenstein: Development of new formats in all their major fields “Believe – Knowing – Speaking”.

LONGER TERM BENEFITS:
– Scenarios for the future for relevant topics were elaborated at the symposium. The participants will be able to use this knowledge in their daily work in their adult educational institutions.
– Building new networks and checking co-operations
