Project Summary

CONTEXT
We feel strongly motivated to implement this transnational collaborative partnership “My City is Beautiful”.
We are 5 European partner schools that have decided to get together and do our best to raise our students’ awareness, interest and knowledge regarding our countries’ heritage – History, Culture and Geography. We live in a Global Village where, very often, people embrace global cultural trends and realities forgetting or rejecting their own national identities and cultural heritage. Due to these factors, we have decided to design this project as a common platform to help our students realise the need of knowing much more about their national identity and cultural heritage. We want to help them to take a journey back to their own roots by learning the traditions and customs, ways of living that have been passed on by their ancestors from generation to generation.
Even though we live in a Global Village, knowing one’s roots and one’s foundation will lead people to thrive. This is why we aim to teach and reinforce students’ patriotic feelings by helping them looking back at the History and Culture of their countries as well as their very own local origins. We will simultaneously help them make bridges and open their horizons towards other cultural realities. In fact, we are all European partners, united in diversity and we strongly believe that learning from each other about their History and Cultural heritage will be very enriching.

PARTICIPANTS
Each school will select 30 students out of 150/200 to become members of the project work group.
The number of selected students may change according to the target group in each school. Students will be the project main actors and beneficiaries.
They will be involved in all the stages of the project implementation by participating in the activities of preparation prior to each LTTA.
A group of 100 students will participate in the LTTAs, they will have a key role disseminating the project information, after the LTTAs in their schools.
As for the accompanying teachers, 2 teachers (the coordinator and a Geography/History/ IT/Literature/SEN/Arts teacher) per partner school will participate in the LTTAs.

OBJECTIVES
The main goal of “My City is Beautiful” is to raise cultural and intercultural awareness of all the project participants while developing and implementing all the project activities and events. However, as this project is especially targeted to students, some of the project’s objectives will be focusing students’ acquisition and improvement of knowledge, skills and positive culturally awareness attitudes. Students are expected to:
– raise cultural awareness (a minimum of 80%) of their own national identity in terms of Geography, History, Literature, Art, traditions, customs, folk dance and music;
– boost intercultural awareness, skills and dialogue so that they can become more open-minded and gain more knowledge about other European countries national heritage;
– enhance their ICT skills by using different online tools and mobile applications to prepare their activities, presentations, creation of outputs, evaluation forms;
– foster their transferrable skills: research and analysis, team work, organization, communication, flexibility.
Our objectives concerning all partner schools are to:
1. Motivate teachers for collaboration work;
2. Improve communication and collaboration amongst all teachers as well as with other members of the school community;
3. Enhance and boost the European educational dimension and international cooperation.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
We plan to organize 5 LTTAs, each dedicated and hosted by each partner:
C1 – The POLISH heritage (Feb 2021)
C2 – The DANISH Heritage (May 2021)
C3 – The PORTUGUESE Heritage (October 2021)
C4 – The TURKISH Heritage (March 2022)
C5 – The CHECH Heritage (June 2022)

RESULTS
The tangible outcomes and results include: project website, project Facebook and Instagram pages, the eTwinning space, eTwinning forum, students presentations (30), online brochures (5), LTTAs and workshops materials, photo albums (5), guest students’ travel journals (80), the final output “European Heritage – Cultural Identities” e-book, Certificates of Attendance (140), Europass mobility documents (140), initial and final evaluation forms, mobility documents (programme, questionnaires, methodology, evaluation forms).

IMPACT
All partner schools will benefit as the students and teachers participate in the LTTAs allowing them to acquire, develop, share and disseminate best practices.
Partner schools will keep promoting intercultural learning and designing new collaborative activities that will benefit students in the short and in the medium and long-term impact.
The schools European dimension will be raised and will all be better prepared to design and implement Erasmus+ projects.
This project will be the starting point to future collaboration within eTwinning and Erasmus+ programme.
