Project Summary
The Capacity Building Project mYouth 2.0 (Mobile, Young, Opportunities, Unity, Technology and Help) was build upon the results, network and experience gained from the first edition of mYouth implemented in 2016, where more than 200 young people were directly engaged and empowered, and 10 mobile apps were developed and participated at the European Youth Award and the World Youth Summit Award as internationally recognized competitions in the field of digital technologies. The new edition of mYouth 2.0 project mainly focused on providing new entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to young people already in the field of new technologies about the potential of mobile apps to become small business and start-ups, as well as the importance of social entrepreneurship as a solution to solve complex societal issues and a way to increase their employability and self-employability of young people. Additionally, the project offered opportunities to participants to enhance their digital and coding skills in line with the EU’s Europe 2020 Growth Strategy and the EU Youth Policy Cooperation as “skills of the future”, but also as continuation of the main priorities of the first mYouth edition and Mladiinfo International. The mYouth 2.0 included 13 partner organizations from 13 countries on three continents from the regions of East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania), Western Africa (Senegal and Ghana), Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Singapore and Philippines), East Asia (Hong Kong), and Europe (Germany, North Macedonia, Austria, Poland, and Romania). The larger and more experienced network, opened the doors for new learning possibilities of youth in the partner countries and beyond, yet also helped in building new partnerships, exchange know-how and practices, and new learning ideas in the field of coding, digital skills, social entrepreneurship and e-Learning. The mYouth 2.0 project expended beyond the achievements of the first edition and introduced several novelties and practices which enriched the intercontinental learning and educational experience of the participants and partner organizations. The project integrated new learning models in mobile app development having more structured and professional guidance and increased the capacities of more than 300 direct participants in new mobile technologies, through more than 30 national events, continental and intercontinental programmes such as online courses, professional business training, online mentoring, hackathons, mobile app camps, pitching practices, boot camps, OER etc. During the project, more than 150 mobile applications were upgraded/developed, mostly available online and 12 teams mentored and trained on business development for tech entrepreneurs. Additionally, the project offered an experienced international network of organizations and professionals from Europe, Asia and Africa, and contributed to the creation of transnational youth initiatives which through development of mobile apps will help to solve local and community problems, and in the same time will create products that will be market oriented and business sustainable.
