Project Summary

The implementation of the project is partly motivated by the current situation and the lack of unity shown to face the health crisis is therefore one of our objectives to highlight the importance of values such as cooperation, respect, empathy and appreciation of European cultural heritage as fundamental parts of the reason for the existence of the European Union. And bearing in mind that the Mediterranean diet, the basis of which is the use of olive oil, is considered by Unesco to be the intangible heritage of humanity and that this heritage is common to certain countries of the European Union such as Italy, Spain, Greece, France, etc, we have thought it appropriate to highlight both the cultivation of the olive tree and olive oil as a shared cultural element which makes us aware of our similarities and the closeness of our values and traditions.
The objectives of the project are therefore: to use the European cultural heritage as a didactic and socialization enhancing element; to develop the internationalization of the schools; to encourage cooperation and teamwork among students and teachers; to develop the students’ and teachers’ skills in the use of ICT and e-learning tools; to improve the students’ and teachers’ communication skills in the English language; and, to appreciate the importance of linguistic diversity and to promote the learning of other languages.
The participants in the project will be students from 15 to 18 years old and those who will carry out the physical mobilities will be 24, 6 from each school, of which at least 12 will be in a disadvantageous situation. The accompanying teachers will be 12, 3 from each school.
The activities will include virtual exchanges through etwinning with the development of online tasks, physical exchanges in each of the four centres and the carrying out of 4 joint training events related to e-learning methodology, multiple intelligences and the Mediterranean diet. Topics that are closely related to the development of the project and that will also provide didactic material for classroom programming of various subjects.
The project will be developed with the consensus and cooperation of the project partners, partners who also have a great experience in the participation of many Erasmus+ projects which will be of great help to the coordinating centre.
The expected results are, on the one hand, tangible: making a video/presentation on the influence of olive oil and the cultivation of olive trees in our cultures (gastronomy, uses, landscape, set phrases, events, traditions, etc.); carrying out advertising campaigns (logo and slogan) that will represent the project; preparation of material for classroom programming in English, in biology, and in Biology in English; and on the other hand, intangible: improvement of competences, improvement of language skills, greater cultural awareness, and the living of cultural experiences and social harmony.
The short term impact on the schools will be the internationalization of the schools, the improvement of social and language skills, the openness of the students’ minds and the motivation of the students in their teaching-learning processes. As far as the practices are concerned, the results will be used in the development of the previously mentioned subjects and the material will be adapted for use in other subjects. As far as the diffusion in the educational communities is concerned, the materials will be exhibited in the centres and informative bulletins will be sent to ampas, nearby centres and local institutions, the project will be made available to nearby educational centres and the educational inspectorate. News published in local and regional media will also contribute to its dissemination. As far as the dissemination at European level is concerned, the Erasmus +. de Project Results Platform will be used. From the point of view of dissemination to the general public, both the project and the activities and results will be accessible free of charge on the websites of the centres. Not only will there be multiple means of disseminating the project, but the use of it will be sustainable over time with the development of new cooperation projects both virtually and physically.
To evaluate the results of the project, an evaluation plan will be established in three phases: at the beginning and the end of the first year, and at the end of the second year.
The benefits will be numerous, namely: internationalisation; improvement of the level of English; promotion of cooperation, tolerance and inclusion; appreciation of European cultural heritage, interest in other cultures and languages; production of classroom material; promotion of healthy habits; future collaborations; motivation to participate in new projects.
