Project Summary

The title of the project is School Online Radio and will be carried out within 2 years by partners from 5 schools from Italy, Macedonia, Portugal, Turkey and Poland as a coordinator. The goal is to create a school radio on a local and international level. In principle, the radio will also function after the end of the project. The interested secondary school students will participate in the project, selected on the basis of covering letters, language competences, IT skills and team work skills. Students in a difficult financial situation, disabled people, having emotional problems, with various dysfunctions and special educational needs will have a chance to participate in the project. The project will be an opportunity for them to overcome barriers in peer relationships.
The aim of the project will be to increase IT competences and language skills of participants. It will contribute to the development of creativity, entrepreneurship, pupils’ independence, and will become a motivation for the development of humanistic interests.
During the project we have planned 1 training meeting for teachers and 5 international meetings with the participation of young people. The training meeting aims to familiarize the teachers with the process of radio formation, its technical and legal aspects. The knowledge acquired by teachers will be passed on to interested pupils and will be used during the creation of the program. During the youth exchange, the main points of visits will be realized: visiting the local radio, meetings with specialists in the field of the media, journalist workshops, and broadcasts on the previously planned topics. Each meeting is subordinated to one issue to which students and teachers must prepare in advance. These are: ecology, talents and interests of young people, problems of modern youth, something that we are proud of, healthy lifestyle.
A constant element of cooperation and trips is learning about culture, traditions and interesting places in partner countries. The time between trips will be devoted to completing and carrying out the tasks resulting from the project schedule, among others preparation of broadcasts and live broadcasts on previously determined topics, conducting interviews with competent people regarding project issues, writing a script and drama scenarios. All activities will be documented with photos, films, articles, scripts placed on an ongoing basis on the project website, on the radio website, on the eTwinning platform, on the Facebook page of the project, in the local press and on television. In their implementation, we will use various methods to activate students: group work, project method, brainstorming, drama.
The permanent result of the project will be: equipment purchased for the needs of school radio, experience and knowledge acquired and its products: broadcasts, scripts, interviews, photos, exhibition films, articles, photo reports from trips.
The long-term benefits of the project will be the opportunity to work on the radio for the students who will start learning at school in the next years. The radio will also play an important cultural and entertainment role at local and international level. Participation in the project will contribute to enriching the educational offer of the school, developing cooperation with the local community and gaining its support. The radio we are going to create will play an important role in the school community. It will be a source of information about the region, partner countries, current events. The youth participating in the project will be better prepared to meet the requirements of the modern labor market. School headmasters and teachers will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, introduce beneficial changes in schools, and apply innovative didactic methods.
Involvement in activities resulting from the project will help all partners to overcome stereotypes, xenophobic thinking and change the approach to cultural differences. This is mainly due to the fact that students will live with their foreign colleagues during visits. It will build friendly relationships and lasting friendships and develop European values such as tolerance, integration and multicultural communication. Disseminating information about the School Online Radio project in the local environment and about our international cooperation will enable the school to gain support from other institutions.
