Project Goals:
The aim of the project is to strengthen the position of teachers and students to design a pedagogy for learning that reflects the cultural, inclusive and socially innovative needs of a diverse community for use now in preparation for the future.
Co- operation will be implemented through an exchange of experience and international co- operation between schools and youth from September 2020 – September 2022. This will be facilitated by:
– Supporting the team of partner schools in providing high quality teaching
– Implementation by teachers and students of activities using innovative and active methods of teaching/ learning through solutions and proven methods consisting of both multi and interdisciplinary approaches
– International co- operation of students from partner schools
– Raising the competence of at least 10 teachers directly involved in the project through participation in mutual training, engagement in initiatives and exchange of experience
– Develop a global awareness for their learning environment and foster a sense of responsibility and autonomy in their learning for students
– Recognize the benefits of engaging in mental health projects and initiatives for further areas of learning
– Provide opportunities for student led social innovation practices that directly impact learning and progression of same into the future
– Develop the skills required to participate democratically in all elements of the project, including that of developing a political awareness relevant to education
Participants:
The project will be co- ordinated and led by a teacher from a socially disadvantaged school in Dublin, Ireland and will be facilitated by a task group at this location. Teaching staff and leaders from partner schools, as well as those interested in including and developing the proposed agenda for the project will also take part. Through the use of student mobilities, many young students (age 10+) will engage with the project while also having the opportunity to broaden their own cultural, personal and educational experience.
Description of actions:
All of the teaching, learning and training components of the project have been designed to ensure a student- focused, progressive mentality that will lend itself to being adaptable and usable for many years to come.
The project provides for four main groups of project activities:
1. Training meetings combined with work and project meetings – mobility of school representatives for 5-day training sessions organized by each Partner
2. Collaboration of students from partner schools using eTwinning platform – presentations of tasks of individual pupils/schools will be placed on the platform.
3. Collaboration of students from partner schools – short-term exchanges of student groups; 5- day bilateral exchange of 3 – 8 personal school students from each host country.
Project Results:
1. Strengthening teachers’ professional competences through participation in international mobility and practical cooperation in the field of education.
2. Establishing long-lasting, satisfactory international cooperation of students aged 10+ from partner schools.
3. Improving the quality of partner schools by developing or implementing innovative elements
observed during the participation in the project.
4. Establishing a long-lasting partnership between schools.
Impact of the project:
This project is designed so as to identify the components of an effective and progressive development in curriculum for the modern day learner. It will incorporate elements of social responsibility, independent learning, global citizenship and positive leadership for students. For teachers, the project will contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in partner schools, which will implement or develop the proposed solutions as a method of current work. It will have a positive impact on the commitment of teachers and students and the implementation of the concept of lifelong learning. Higher quality of education and upbringing thanks to innovative solutions implemented in the School by the teachers participating in the project will influence the dissemination of solutions in the everyday life of the students’ families.
Long Term benefits:
In the European and international dimension, the project will influence the development of innovative and tested methods and tools through cross-border sharing of knowledge and practice. The project is an example of a unique approach to raising teachers’ qualifications, equipping them with competences and skills necessary to provide high quality education services and to meet the increasingly individualized needs of students and their parents going in to the future.
