Project Summary
Radar project involves over 300 young people, most of them young people with fewer opportunities. This is a project of 3 countries and five partners with the aim of creating the first European Network of Youth Smart Cities. At the same time we will be able to reduce school leaving and youth unemployment , particularly amongst young people from minorities , disabled or from the most disadvantaged backgrounds through a participatory learning process. Each youngster will redesign his life plan based on life goals and realistic goals set by them. On the other hand we also intend to combat the phenomena of child labor and to promote the dynamics of participatory democracy as a means of promoting youth participation among young people at risk through the birth of informal youth groups.
For this we will carry out a non- formal education process which is based on commitment to a more inclusive growth through the Youth Smart City Network, composed of Radar Spaces . This structure will create a support structure for young people to combat poverty and marginalization.
The basic methodology of each Radar Spaces shall be the Clan Method. To every young integrating the Radar Spaces will be given a Master (an animator or a more experienced youth worker) and the title of young Apprentice. The Radar space that every youngster will integrate will be his/her Clan, and like what happens in every Clan, the apprentice will evolve by stages, until reaching the status of Master. At this time he takes the place of Master and he also accepts new apprentices as they had done with him initially. After Apprentice, when the youngster thinks his prepared to ascend he may ask his Master and Clan. They will have 3 levels of status: Apprentice: Master Apprentice and finally the status of Master, with the responsibility of directing their own apprentices and building a new group.
We will have an initial network of six spaces. With time it will appear new Radar Spaces with the growing of new masters and new local partners. The Radar Spaces will have a dual function. They will be Youth Resource Centers for the Promotion of Social Entrepreneurship and birth of informal youth groups or youth organizations. On the other side they will be Ludical Laboratories of new methodologies for inclusive non-formal education, where young people will be involved as key stakeholders, supported by the youth workers of the project .
We will have strong international cooperation wor through Radar Summits that will promote the exchange of good practices and articulation of action plans of all partners. This work will be complemented by international advertising campaigns and dissemination activities in all countries with initiatives that will reach more than 3000 young people. In the end of the project the YSC web platform, new pedagogical tools e dozens of new youth informal groups will be a reality that will carry on Radar project and the YSC network.
