Project Summary
This project comes to life thanks to the interest of each of the four European partner associations to improve and acquire resources for non-formal education and best practices when working with refugees that are seeking asylum in these countries.
Currently there are in the world more than 65 million human beings in need of international protection amongst them refugees, stateless and displaced by conflict, poverty and violence. The vast majority of these people are forced to flee their homes seeking protection in countries other than their own. These numbers are growing every day whereas the space for asylum is being restricted in Europe and other parts of the world. In the present context we see the need to open up new ways of sharing methods and experiences in the work we do with young refugees and this improve the resources and skills of our professionals in their intervention.
Each of the participating associations in this project has a different context and methods of intervention with young refugees.
“Art in Anywhere” works on the border between Turkey and Syria doing social circus projects with refugees, focusing on social and labor integration through the “training of trainers” method.
Kids in Action works in refugee camps in Greece where they create projects in which Social Circus and Human Rights Education are combined.
“Hungarian Juggling Association” Creates Social Circus projects which incorporate the method pedagogy for the liberation, at the refugee camps in the city of Budapest due to the violation of human rights suffered by refugees in this country.
Circolio carries out a social circus project focused on the social and work insertion as professional artists of young refugees in Valencia.
Our main goal is to IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND THE IMPACT OF OUR INTERVENTION AND THAT OF OUR YOUTH PROFESSIONALS THROUGH THE EXCHANGE OF METHODS AND BEST PRACTICES THAT ARE INNOVATIVING PRACTICES IN NON FORMAL EDUCATION THAT WE DEVELOPE WITH YOUNG REFUGEES
Following this line the results we want to achive are:
– To have shared methods, experience and innovating best practices in non-formal education through the learning trips to each partner’s country and other project activities, in order to work in a more comprehensive and complete way with young refugees so as to achieve a greater impact.
– To have strengthened and developed the cooperation and exchange network of best practices amongst the organizations that form the project.
– To have improved our youth professionals’ skills, abilities and resources thanks to the learning trips and other project activities.
– To have worked on the improvement of the employability of youth professionals by improving their skills, competencies and educational resources.
– To have promoted innovative teaching methods, namely the combination of the Social Circus tool with other tools and methodologies such as education in human rights, pedagogy of liberation, social and professional insertion at an artistic level and youth work, in the intervention with young refugees through the implementation and transmition activities from the project.
– To have worked on the integration of newly arrived refugees seeking asylum in our respective countries by developing integration projects.
– To have worked in the defense of inclusive immigration policies and framed in the respect for human rights through the implementation and dissemination activities of the project.
– To have contributed to have made youth professionals internal and externally as well as the general public aware of the violations of rights that occur around the refugees and the need for this type of integrative actions.
To carry out the project activities we will implement the participants in the project, with theoretical and practical training on the methodology of each of the partners. To do this we will move 36 young professionals through out the 4 participating countries.
Learning activities are complemented by the broadcasting and sinsitization of the project, key to achieving the project’s objectives.
This project will last 15 months but the intervention of members with young refugees will continue, obtaining with this a greater impact on people. Besides the learning acquired by participants will materialize in future interventions, and in turn the sharing network created amongst the professionals and the documentation generated in the project website will be kept in time between the 4 partners.
