Project Summary
RE-WRITE will contribute to European goals of innovating skills development & digital competencies, tackling social exclusion caused by mass unemployment due to Covid & marginalization. It will contribute to achievement of Euro 2020 aims interrelated & mutually reinforcing social inclusion, education & employment targets. Specifically: – The European cooperation in education & training (ET2020), Development of skills policy, EEAL, & promotion of European value.
-Covid crisis has caused a sharp rise in unemployment & social exclusion across EU & has disrupted traditional state provisions for dealing with economic disaster, (i.e skills development, digital competencies, encouraging entrepreneurship) (1)
-Unemployment due to impact of Covid is not equally shared across Europe – marginalised groups have been hit hardest (2)
-Europe’s artistic industries have been one of the most harmed economic sectors, with it’s survival now relying upon digitalisation of content (3)
-There is growing market consumption in creative audio content on all digital platforms (4)
-More digitalisation has revealed a skills gap & the “need to address the digital skills shortages within the arts sector.” (5)
RE-WRITE will promote skill development, digital competencies & social inclusion through creativity & the arts, through focusing on the coproduction of a new set of training resources.
RE-WRITE will develop, test and imbed these set of creative non formal learning resources to upskill & nurture the creative artistic talents & digital competencies of adults removed from the labour market, whilst fostering entrepreneurship & employment opportunities for the RE-WRITE learner within the post covid cultural, creative & growing audio digital sectors, across Europe.
The resources will be for the use of unemployed adults aged 18+ (due to economic impact of Covid/or marginalisation eg ex-offenders, migrant communities) who wish to enter the growing audio digital/creative arts labour market, & adult educators looking to support their service users.
The resources will be innovative, inclusive, & transversal in their use & flexibility, to work with the fluctuating safety concerns of a post covid Europe. They will be able to be used within in a group setting, with a facilitator (i.e a prison/community centre) or as a self directed learning resource (i.e at home, alone)
Through a combination of creative writing/drama learning, & multimedia & digital upskilling, the RE-WRITE resources will improve & extend the supply of high quality learning opportunities for unemployed & marginalized adults.
544 participants will take part in the co-production of RE-WRITE across the partner countries, including 192 unemployed & marginalized adults (ex-offenders, migrant communities, older people, women). Other participants include adult educators, arts/culture employers & employees, digital arts entrepreneurs, delivery settings & policy makers.
Activities within RE-WRITE include –
– 5 Transnational Meetings in each partner country
– 1 EU Multiplier Event in Romania
– 4 Local Multiplier Events in each partner countries
– 1 Short term learning mobility for adult educators
– 1 Blended Learning Mobility for 2 unemployed adults from each partner country.
RE-WRITE Results –
O1 – A series of podcasts, this non formal learning resource will develop specific skills/competencies of the learner which are urgently needed in the European creative/digital sector, specifically in the area of creating, writing & recording audio plays.
O2 – An online learning resource equipping learners with the understanding of employers needs/recruitment processes of arts/culture sector, in order to successfully identify & secure employment opportunities with digital & creative employers
O3 – An online learning resource, upskilling learners in innovative ways of using social media to market their own creative & digital works on a national, EU & international level, to create viable, sustainable self-employment, & foster entrepreneurship within the creative/digital sector
RE-WRITE will target 3 groups: Unemployed/marginalized adults, adult educators & delivery settings.
The quality of RE-WRITE’s outputs not only will improve access to the growing audio digital labour market for unemployed/marginailized people on a European level, but will assist in the recovery of Europe’s arts/culture sector in a post covid Europe, as well as offering deeper understanding & continued professional development for adult educators in this field, which can be transferred to engagement with other marginalised, socially excluded groups, in a variety of delivery settings.
They will also benefit from the cross-pollination of ideas & models across Europe, sharing experience of what works in the field of adult learning for marginalised adults, & development of training modules – improving the provision of high quality learning opportunities for adults across post covid Europe – now & in the future
