Project Summary
CONTEXT / PROJECT BACKGROUND
The European Union emerges in the post-war context of the mid-20th century as a desire of European citizens to avoid repeating tragedies such as the two world wars. The awareness of European citizenship is a concept that has been developing for centuries thanks to the many relationships between the countries and nations that make up the European continent. These relationships are the result, in many cases, of ties and collaborations between specific people.
This project tries to create new bonds of personal and institutional type, through collaboration between educational centres in a common project to research, study, discover, foster the interactions that exist between Spain and Italy, human encounters between both peoples, synergies of centuries, cultural, social, political flows. Many Spanish artists developed their work in Italy and Italians in Spain; the influence of the respective literatures is enormous; politicians, cartographers, naturalists, architects, engineers, inventors, religious people, educators and many others have contributed to the rapprochement of the two countries. The bonds between people help to create bonds between peoples.
Hence its title: “Roundtrip roads: cultural dialogues between Spain and Italy”. Dialogue is always a space of encounter, exchange, union. It is the dialogue between two peoples who have shared even centuries of common history.
The two educational centres that believein this project have been collaborating since 2014, and this project of in-depth analysis of the common Spanish-Italian elements has been thought and meditated for several years. That is why we are now presenting this proposal.
OBJECTIVES
-To foster the concept of European citizenship, becoming aware that the idea of Europe is the result of interactions between specific people and peoples for centuries.
-To investigate the cultural, social, political and other ties that have been established and exist between Spain and Italy.
– To know and make known the cultural and artistic heritage (material and immaterial) of both countries in whose achievement people or institutions of the other country have been linked: Spanish artists in Italy and Italian artists in Spain.
-To discover and give relevance to the work of specific people, men and women, who have contributed and contribute to the closeness between the two countries, in the different fields of culture: science, literature, arts, politics, religion, fashion, shows …
– To develop actions that reveal the influence of the other country in the specific local and regional areas (city, province). To prepare a “Cultural Week of Italy in Salamanca” and a “Cultural Week of Spain in Pescia” and give them maximum dissemination.

-Preparation of the “Week of Italy” in Salamanca, and the “Week of Spain” in Pescia with activities open to citizens in general and the media.
The participating schools will continue collaborating in other projects and initiatives that serve to establish knowledge and communication channels beyond this project.
Therefore, it is a project that achieves value from the educational and social points of view of the EUROPEAN CULTURAL HERITAGE in various fields, affecting common scientific and cultural elements in their broadest sense. From the educational point of view, it reinforces cultural and artistic competences, autonomous learning, oral and written communication, digital competence and interaction with the physical environment. Considered an element of educational innovation, it is revealed as a very useful tool for educational centres
Finally, this project serves to promote what it studies: ties between European citizens.
