Project Summary

The Szabad Waldorf Gimnázium, which was launched in September 2018 in the Southern Buda region in Hungary, aims to co-operate with a long-standing German Waldorf institution, Dortmund Rudolf Steiner Schule. The goal of the project is to organise a two-way mobility for personal visits of educators in institutions in order to learn from each other’s operation, experience international examples, and gather professional, methodological exchange. According to the idea of anthroposophy, Waldorf schools are striving for a social three-fold structure and organization, including the intellectual-cultural sphere, the social-legal sphere and the economic sphere, which operate in a coordinated way. The Waldorf school’s primary task is to implement this social organization, because it is a model for social development that is directly related to human nature.
As there is lack of example in Hungary, the main goal is to learn from German principles where the Waldorf pedagogy originates. The participants experience this methodology with a functional focus visit to a German school, as well as Waldorf-like institutions. The Hungarian team visits their partner institution to learn long-lasting experience and other methodological aim is to establish long-term objectives will give a new impetus to the activity. During the one-week stay in Dortmund, the Hungarian team attends the school’s everyday life, visit specific classrooms and sessions. Conclusions will be drawn and a detailed strategy is created for inner development. The model created in their will be used as an inspirational example for our new institution and other similar institutions in Hungary. Between the visits, there will be further discussions and analysis on drawing conclusions and create a detailed strategy for inner development to reach our goals. The Hungarians’ initiations will be shown as a return for the German team in the other one week. Similar or almost the same events will be given as well as giving an insight to the ideas and facilities available at the Hungarian team. In the host school project of the Hungarian school, a professional-methodological developer named project should be allowed to work. There is a special result of the pedagogical work at the collaboration of respecting traditions and implementing technological development. This project involves the recognition the technical challenges of our age and teaches its students how to make use of technology in a conscious and understanding way. This is the definition of a research methodological project, an examination of a question arising from Waldorf pedagogical possibilities. In addition to presenting the results of these research so far, a host institution has the opportunity for its teachers to present research on methodological development and workshops, as well as research on newer issues.
