Project Summary

Seeds for Sustainable Development focused on the issue of sustainable development and aimed to make citizens aware about their impact on the environment, their role in the process of creating sustainable future and their options for making more sustainable choices. It also enhanced the capacities of various stakeholders (non-governmental organizations, local municipalities, businesses) that implemented sustainable development in their practices.

The project consisted of 3 mobility activities
1)Training course aiming to develop competencies of the participants in the field of sustainable development focusing to raise their skills to create projects motivating public to live more sustainable lifestyle;
2)Youth exchange designed to raise awareness about sustainable development especially among rural youth who is lacking opportunities to attend activities that give them possibilities for personal and professional development.
3)Job shadowing included in the project with an aim to provide individuals from participating organizations an opportunity to directly participate in activities on the local level in other partner organizations and learn from their practices. Moreover, job shadowing was an opportunity to share common practices from different realities, discuss issues concerning each side and reflect on the way how good working practices could be transferred from one reality to other taking in consideration the specifics of the communities.

The result of this project was 30 educated youth leaders and youth workers on the methods and ways of working with young people in the area of sustainable development. Set of presentations, workshops and materials for education of young people about the sustainable development were made. Brochure on the UN goals of sustainable development in Serbian and English was prepared and published.

36 young people and 7 youth leaders participated on the youth exchange where they acquired new knowledge about the different topics of sustainable development.

During the job shadowing 5 young leaders familiarized with the concrete work of the hosting organization, Association Rhythm of health, thy established new contacts and developed cooperation with organizations in Irig and Novi Sad.

All activities were based on non-formal approach and met the following objectives:
• Strengthened knowledge of the participants and participating organizations in the topics of sustainable development, such as including social dimension of sustainable development;
• Provided a space for participants to increase their knowledge about the issues of science, technology and innovation (STI) in sustainable development and encouraged them to reflect on the ways how they can integrate STI in their practices;
• Increased participants understanding of grassroots innovations for sustainable development and encouraged them to implement these practices in their realities and
• Helped the participants to realize their own role in the process of creating sustainable societies and promote their active involvement in solving environmental issues and challenges.

Key products of the project were: videos, handbook and video clip about youth exchange. All products were developed by youth with an aim to raise the awareness about sustainable development among a wide public and motivate citizens, institutions and organizations to implement sustainable development in their daily practices.

The Association Rhythm of health in partnership with organizations from: Romania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Portugal and Macedonia implemented this project.

Mutual cooperation in the field of sustainable development was enhanced and capacity of participating organizations was significantly improved.
