Project Summary

Digitisation at all levels is currently the biggest challenge facing schools in Europe. In order to fulfil our educational mission and to develop school administration and teaching staff, we need to become more professional in the field of modern technologies and digitisation. Since the two partner schools have been working together in a variety of ways for four years now, we want to tackle this challenge together in digital issues as well.

Activities, project goals and project methodology
Both schools are already on the way to modern technologies and digitisation and have been working on the digitisation priority for some time. The TFO Meran did pioneering work in the field of digitisation (digital class book, digital teacher register) 6 years ago, from which the FOSBOS Ansbach will profit. FOSBOS Ansbach already has a wealth of experience in the efficient use of digital technologies in schools (e.g. digital teachers’ rooms, digital classrooms, virtual vocational secondary schools, digitally equipped classrooms, mebis platform). TFO Meran is currently tackling the digitisation of the administrative apparatus. The existing know-how of both schools is to be compared, exchanged and networked:
– Establishment of an exchange platform for digital teaching and learning via eTwinning
– Development of a general concept for the digital school
– in-house and joint training courses on digitisation with external experts

The exchange with the partner school about these teaching concepts should serve to reflect the products better and to mutually benefit from new teaching impulses. The students/pupils, who are taught with the outcome of these learning concepts, will contribute to quality improvement through evaluation processes. In addition, selected pupils from both schools will be involved in practical project work (Meran) and “Seminar” (Ansbach) in the field of digitisation. Students will look for topics on the two frameworks “digital transformation processes in Europe I.+II.” and “digital challenges I.+II.” and work on them independently according to the given criteria and with the support of the supervising teachers. A mutual exchange of intermediate results and final results of the student work will then take place via eTwinning or as an event item in the student mobility programme. In addition to the presentation of their own thematic work results, these students are to be given an insight into the digital practice of the respective partner schools as well as, above all, the digital working world and the education sector of the respective partner region. These 5-day visits are based on a programme of joint activities, focusing on both educational institutions and companies that have made particular progress in the fields of industry/economy 4.0 and knowledge management. The complete visit programme is based on the framework topics as well as the selected individual topics for the project or seminar papers in order to enable the students to participate as much as possible. In addition to recognising these differences, we see the added value in looking beyond the end of one’s nose and the further development of digital teaching and learning.

Participants
For reasons of organisational practicability, the number of participants in teacher training for international mobility must be limited to 8 teachers. All interested colleagues can take part in the on-site events after registration. In principle, only one member of the school administration, the school representatives for media pedagogy and/or the device & network system supervisors will be appointed for international mobility, so that 5 to 6 colleagues from different departments can take part in these mobilities, i.e. each student council will be represented by at least one person. The number of student mobilities is limited to a maximum of 15 students, which are selected in a selection procedure according to motivation, suitability and interest. Prerequisite is the attendance of the final class and the choice of the appropriate framework topic for the project/seminar work.

Expected results & long-term benefits
Colleagues are working together to meet the challenges of digitisation in school administration and teaching and are becoming increasingly secure in terms of digital classroom development. Through joint reflection phases, they benefit in terms of lifelong professional development. Students can help to shape future (extra-)instructional educational content and in their work have dealt in greater depth with the facets of digitisation in education and business.
