Project Summary
CONTEXT
We believe that digital skills and competences can be acquired and developed through an innovative educational process that involves the use of digital devices (SmartPhone, tablet, etc.). It is also well-known that students use these devices all the time in their daily lives, but school is often deficient in the use of digital applications. Even though some schools have the necessary equipment and are equipped with the latest technology, however, teachers often do not have the necessary training to use digital devices and applications, thus rendering their equipment ineffective. The goal we want to achieve this transnational project is that we want to help pupils and teachers acquire, develop and improve their digital skills. In order to achieve this, we will have collaborative activities, we will see how other European schools, the more experienced, the new technologies use, so that we learn from each other. Besides, we will select together the best digital applications (mobile, web 2.0 tools, etc.) so that we maximize the efficiency of teaching and the fight against early school leaving.
OBJECTIVES
They will be achieved through project activities and will be developed at local and transnational level and are:
– acquiring, developing and improving digital and technological knowledge and skills;
– acquiring, developing and improving the skills of professional communication, linguistics, collaboration and intercultural cooperation;
– the use of digital devices (smart phones, laptops, tablets, etc.) and web applications (google apps, web 2.0 tools, mobile apps, etc.) effectively in the educational process;
– motivating pupils to engage actively in learning, in order to reduce early school leaving;
– the development of pedagogical design skills, regarding the use of technological teaching methodologies, in the classroom;
– Growing the feeling of innovation, creativity and initiative;
– Facilitating educational, cultural and social interchange at European level.
ACTIVITY
LTTA 1 – LTTA for Teachers, which includes a course titled “Getting Started with Devices and Digital Applications Used in Student Education”.
LTTA 2 – LTTA students with the theme: “Digital devices and applications used in the classroom”
LTTA 3 – LTTA students with the theme: “Devices and digital applications for collaborative learning”;
LTTA 4 – LTTA students with the theme: “Devices and digital content creation applications”;
LTTA 5 – LTTA students with the theme: “Devices and digital applications for evaluation”.
Prior to each LTTA, each country prepares activities that will be developed with and for students.
PARTICIPANTS
Approximately 100 students, ages 10-17 and 50 teachers, will be involved in the project directly by participating in mobility. Indirectly, over 1,000 students and 100 teachers will be involved, as well as schools (parents, local authorities, local partners, etc.). 3 teachers from each country will participate in the training course under LTTA 1, then in the next LTTA (2-5), we will have 6 pupils and 2 teachers per country.
IMPACT
Teachers and students will have a unique experience on how to use digital innovative devices, applications and tools in teaching and learning. The project will obviously have a major impact on the whole school, but also on the communities we are part of, because students will become more active and more competent in the use of new technologies. The educational instructive process will become more interactive and motivating as pupils will be involved in their own educational processes, leading to medium and long-term effects – lower early school leaving rates, effective lifelong training and the labor market, schools with attractive educational offers and happy students as well as teachers who are able to provide quality education.
RESULTS
The results will be both tangible and intangible. Throughout the project, as well as after its completion, all participants will become more motivated and will be involved in the teaching and learning process, having a unique, distinctive and enjoyable experience. Our schools will become more attractive and more suited to modern man’s education, and our teachers will be able to keep up with the requirements of the third millennium. Our communities will benefit in the long term from motivated, educated and well-trained people, citizens for a modern Europe, one of the future, each of the beneficiaries deriving advantages from this project.
