Project Summary

The project SEEDS2 started as a follow up of the previous capacity building “SEEDS (Social Economy Entrepreneurship Development Skills, SEEDS1), which was more focused on methods of sustainability for NGOs and on training youth workers to implement profit activities as social enterprises. To suit more the nature of the partner organisations and increase the support of local stakeholders,SEEDS2 aimed to promote the concept and practise of Social Entrepreneurship (SE from now on) among the local communities and NGO’s involved in the project. During the project education and training sessions for young people in the topic of SE were implemented, providing them with positive learning experience based on non formal Education, intercultural learning, peer to peer education and active participation. The project promoted the cooperation and exchange of good practices in the field of social economy between NGOs from Europe and Latin America. It enabled to increase competences of staff members in the management and facilitation of international meetings and to implement different local trainings on SE based on Non Formal Education. Furthermore, partner organizations from Latin America were trained on methodologies of Youth Exchange in the framework of Erasmus+. During the planification of the NFE activities in seminar and especially during the meeting in Brazil, the consortium agreed to adapt an existing board game with improvements. The 1st version of the board game was developed within a project of Civil Society Cooperation between Turkey and Europe where TRIADA and Joint were the two mains partners. We decided to enrich the board game with new “cards” and then we embedded it in a larger training module with NFE activities, most of them coming from “SEEDS1”. The board game on Social Entrepreneurship has been very useful as pillar for the implementation of non formal education activities and it was used in the two youth exchanges and in the local workshops to help the youngsters to develop their own ideas of social enterprise. With regard to the dissemination events organized by the partner association to spread knowledge about SE and to inspire local initiative, both the partner association and local stakeholders had an active role to support the activities and to reinforce networking. To plan a significant impact, each partner implemented at least 1 local training course testing the developed methodologies with the participation of at least 15 participants from 5 NGOs. The methodologies have been adapted by each partner to the context and the participants involved. The project reached the following results:The creation of competences development instrument in the area of social entrepreneurship and project management through the creation and testing of workshop and training modules;a network for cross-sectorial sharing of good practices between social entrepreneurship ventures and NGOs.video-tutorials to explain NFE methodologies. They have been complemented with a subtitles in English in order to give clear information about the activities materials, needs and steps to follow for the facilitators.Facebook page Social Economy Resources was created and implemented with explanations on this topic from academic publications and with news, videos, general information of funds on SE. The website http://socialeconomyresources.net has been implemented and updated. It contained articles of participants who take part in the projects describing their experience in SEEDS2, the news, links and contents on SE.During the final evaluation of the project, the willingness to continue the cooperation with the partners on the topic and the experience acquired during SEEDS2 raised the idea of future cooperation for the creation of a formal network on social entrepreneurship, SERN (Social Economy Resources Network).
