Project Summary

Schools are very important promoters in cultivating feelings such as respect, tolerance and understanding among students.
The central term of “Start the change from yourself and spread it to society” is social empathy, as it is a fundamental aspect of being a responsible and helpful member of a community.
Human beings must be aware of the power of empathy, of a smile, of a compliment, of listening to the ear and of a good word.
Often, people tend to listen to the answer and not understand each other’s opinion. We need to start working on this issue sooner.
Developing empathy and teaching students to see the world through a colleague’s eyes is a feature that will help them all their lives.
The common needs illustrated by the SWOT analysis of project partners in Poland, Turkey, Portugal, Romania and Serbia are: students’ tendency to work alone, not in teams; the low tendency of students to be tolerant; the number of pupils who are assaulted; the need for teachers to be linked to other EU education systems; the need for schools to internationalize their programs.
According to the feedback reports, it has been observed that at each school level there is a tendency among students to face differences, creating gaps between them.
The project aims to promote excellence in education by equipping participants with knowledge and skills to provide a socially empowered school setting.
The main objective is to use social empathy to connect people and communities.
The overall objective of the project is to raise participants’ awareness of the importance of social empathy in schools and in a multicultural world.
The objectives of the project are:
– promote social and cultural dialogue between 250 pupils from 5 European schools during the 24 months of the project
– develop participants’ interpersonal empathy, contextual understanding and social responsibility
– to enhance understanding of social and cultural differences
– reduce aggressive behaviors and emotional disturbances of students in 5 EU schools
– strengthen cooperation between schools and local communities.
The project is aimed at students aged 13-17, a total of 136 people will participate directly in international meetings (96 students and 40 teachers).
Through this project, we hope to make students aware of the power of empathy, the need to be empathetic in everyday life, and to help them become better people both personally and professionally. Activities are intended to see school as a positive and productive place where they have friends who share the same fears, needs and aspirations. Participants will observe the diversity of European cultures and will be encouraged to reject stereotypes.
Activities will show that, to accept something different, it is important to understand, respect and appreciate differences, actively listen to others, increase the management of personal emotions, and explore social situations in a fair way.
The concrete results we want to achieve are the project logo, questionnaires, school presentations, promotional materials (roll-ups, leaflets, etc.), the exhibition with InterNational Heritage 3D cards, “A world without empathy”, five Travel Guides, Collages of Feelings, Aggressive Workshop, Friendship Wall, Day of Tolerance Festival, Summer School Program (International Friendship Day) and two project newsletters.
Our project is an opportunity for the involved institutions and participants to strengthen their social, digital and communication skills and thereby increase the quality of the educational process.
Experience will develop the skills and abilities to work in multicultural working teams and contexts.
At wider and EU level, the project will influence the cultural and general knowledge of the participants. The face-to-face international meetings will create space to exchange examples of good practice and broaden the knowledge of different approaches to the educational process.
The concrete results produced during the project will be learning tools that can be used to teach an international dimension of the curriculum.
The project products will remain available on the project website and will be free of charge.
The project site will remain active for at least 5 years after the end of the project.
The project ensures, on a long-term basis, the personal and professional development of the indirect participants in the project and the direct participation in the mobility. The social awareness of the participants, the cultural understanding and the tolerance will increase and will also address other life situations more positively.
By interacting with people from other EU countries, participants will be more tolerant, proactive, will increase motivation in promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of the EU. The project will become a space for international interactions, for quality opportunities for didactic activity and social relationships.
The educational environment will become an intercultural and multicultural environment.
