Project Summary
This project unites a preschool in Reykjavik (Kvistaborg) and a vocational training center in France (MFR of la Tour d’Aigues).
It is a project that will enable “learning by doing” both for teachers and students.
After years of cooperating on student work placements in individual mobility programs, the two schools have decided to further their partnership through an exchange project.
The project will enable:
Teacher learning and exchange of experience: giving the opportunity for teachers to learn from each others expertise and experiences and also from a wider scope of partner schools. We hope that this will lead to improved quality in the services that the schools provide to the children and students that attend the schools as well as improve the quality of future student mobilities between the schools.
Cultural exchange for children and students: The MFR students and Kvistaborg children would exchange information about their respective cultures. Regardless of their age differences, this exchange would deepen their knowledge of their own cultures and widen their horizons with the discovery of another culture. Developing curiosity and openness builds self-confidence and motivation for learning. Students of the MFR, who have previously dropped out of the normal educational system, would participate in a motivating project that will call on their creativity to valorise their culture during cultural workshops they will set up for the children of the preschool during their mobility period.
The use of eTwinning will enable the children of Kvistaborg and the students of the MFR to exchange online throughout the project and each MFR student will complete a Student Project Booklet that enables them to record their evolution during the project.
By actively engaging together in this project the schools hope that it will be the beginning of other such collaborations with a wider network of partner schools that will be part of the project.
The project will be disseminated within the schools and also within the local communities thus enabling others to benefit from the discovery of a new culture, different educational practices and widen their horizons.
