Project Summary

The project is a cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices among five European schools from Poland (the coordinator), Italy, Greece, Croatia and Bulgaria. The project duration is 24 months starting from 1 September 2020. The participants of the project are students aged 13-19 attending comprehensive or vocational schools. The project title is: “Teen Einsteins.” The main objective of the project is to increase the level of achievement and interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This will be done through experiential approach towards teaching which proves that only by doing experiments students can understand science. The project’s mission is to refute the accusation against school that is considered to be irrelevant and far from reality. The real problem of today’s education is that science is taught mainly theoretically. The project will teach science practically by letting students discover theory in practice. Students will be observing and deducing. They will be using formulas to produce tangible produce. They will be also exploring jobs which use scientific methods and formulas.
The project includes five short exchanges of pupils during which students will be engaged in the activities connected with forensics (Poland), biotechnology (Bulgaria), food processing (Croatia), robotics (Italy) and cosmetology (Greece). The acitivities will be mainly of experiential nature to let students discover the laws of science through action.
Before each exchange students will be working on Twinspace carrying out tasks developing their linguistic skills and deepening their knowledge in science, technology, engineering and maths. They will be filming experiments done in class and analysing them. They will also be writing lesson plans including detaled instructions on how to complete an experiment. They will be writing quizzes concerning the fields of science they want to master. Quizzes will be solved by students from partner schools to master the language from that field.
The project aims to create opportunities for students to develop key competences they will need in their professional life: scientific, social, and linguistic.
The expected result of the project is increased motivation for active participation in classes of Science and Maths as well as increased interest in engineering and technology. The project is to make lessons more lively and entertaining through introducing more job-related activities into the school curricula to prepare students for the labour market and make them aware of a great variety of the jobs it offers.
The project will help teachers to take science to the next level. Thanks to the project they will provide their laboratories with essential equipment and resources for regular use to bridge the gap between what a student wants and what a school can offer. The project will grant students a first-class educational experience while teachers will enrich their didactic base for the future. The tangible results will be videos showing scientific experiments, lesson plans for creative teaching of Science/Maths and Robotics as well as dictionaries explaining the language of professions offered by the partner schools.
