Project Summary

The project aims to provoke a real change in the way we enjoy, protect and promote cultural heritage, and with the activities we ensure that the pupils, teachers, parents and the public will have the benefit from the project and it will be part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
“The Castles on the Danube – Our Linking Heritage” is a secondary education project in which in two years more than 1500 European students from 7 different schools will learn about the history, architecture and life in the Castles on the Danube , about their importance in the past, present and how to protect them for future generations . Cultural heritage has universal value for us as individuals, communities and societies, and students will understand their commitment to its preservation and its importance for building the future of Europe.
By creating models, posters, presentations, films, artworks, plays, photos, organizing happenings, they will use innovative work methods and new digital technologies, as well as familiarize with interesting professions.
As a result of our project will be created: a traveling exhibition of photos and castles of castles; a guide book about the landmarks along the Danube River and opportunities for tourism; 2 happenings; 6 training seminars; 8 workshops; a book of literary works.
An interdisciplinary project in which the school subjects of Language, History, Geography, ICT, Maths, Music and Foreign Languages have a lot to say. To carry out the activities envisaged in our project, teachers will learn new teaching methods( in the 4 training seminars ), which will be put into practice, for example, cooperative learning techniques, multiple intelligences approach, the flipped classrroom, thinking routines (also called visible thinking), problem- based learning and also the implementation and integration of ICTs (information and communication technologies) in the classroom. Through seminars, a forum on eTwinning and social networks, and direct contact and cooperation, teachers will exchange good practices to help them implement these methodologies at their organizations.
In addition, Partners from Austria will conduct two training seminars at the beginning and at the end of the project at TPM about new evaluation tools and on-line questionnaires and about successful social inclusion projects.
At the end of the project, participants will have developed basic skills, both teachers and students will have improved their communicative skills using the English Language and their digital competences thorugh the use of ICT; they will also have developed social and intepersonal skills and a sense of European belonging. Schools participating will be more open-minded to the European neighbours, and apart from the participants’s impacts already mentioned, they will be updated organizations, where innovative teaching methodologies will be implemented and integrated in their curriculum.

The methodology in the project will be applied according to 9 stages. These stages have sub-stages such as planning, practising and evaluating/disseminating. Every stage will be tackled one by one and after one stage according to the evaluation, the next stage will start. The move will be from local to international area. Students and graduated students are the main beneficiaries and actors in the centre. The activities will be open to all the students in the school and who ever wants to join and participate in the activities they will be included carefully. There will be presented equal opportunity for everyone in the school.

After the end of the project, teachers’ training will continue through sharing of best pedagogical practices in eTwinning and social networks. The exchange of experience with colleagues involved in the project will continue and they will initiate virtual projects.
Our schools will have enlarged the number of contacts and we will use these synergies to be more successful or productive as a result of this merger.
